[Bug 456637] Re: Please consider turning powermizer OFF

2010-04-25 Thread Lod
Installation of Ubuntu 10.04 forced me to take another look at this bug.
The workaround in the first post originated from this link:
http://forums.nvidia.com/index.php?showtopic=102344.
I reread this thread and found out there were some new posts advising to update
the BIOS. I downloaded an update from the ASUS site (which adressed this
problem) and made the upgrade. It seems to do the trick for me, the nvidia
driver is now working 'out of the box'.

[Bug 456637] Re: Please consider turning powermizer OFF

2009-10-20 Thread Lod
I had the same problems within minutes or even before logging in (as described
in the bug), for me the fix worked.
I had to boot up from a live cd and mount my drives manually to create the file.

[Bug 263555] Re: [intrepid] 2.6.27 e1000e driver places Intel ICH8 and ICH9 gigE chipsets at risk

2008-10-02 Thread lod
I'm using intel based HP dc5800 Desktop with Ethernet card that is using the
bad drivers. I've migrated to Intrepid after alpha 2 was released and unti the
e1000e driver was blacklisted (i've noticed no eth0 :) ) I had no problems. Now
I'm using external LAN and my dualboot Vista is working great with the internal
card. No corruption with me.
If someone wants safe, use Hardy, Gutsy, Feisty or Debian..
"Here be dragons", isn't right?

[Bug 275423] [NEW] intrepid madwifi ath5k with AR242x not detecting all wireless networks and link speed is very poor

2008-09-28 Thread lod
Public bug reported:

I'm testing Intrepid on laptop with atheros AR242x chipset

02:00.0 Ethernet controller: Atheros Communications Inc. AR242x
802.11abg Wireless PCI Express Adapter (rev 01)

The madwifi driver, Intrepid is using detects the chipset and it's working but
not so good.
1. It only detects AP broadcasting on channels 1-10, my wifi was working on
channel 13 and i had to change the channel to lower one.
2. the AP is in the same room I am, but:
wlan0 IEEE 802.11bg ESSID:"lod.air"
  Mode:Managed Frequency:2.447 GHz Access Point: 00:0E:2E:AF:A7:CF
  Bit Rate=24 Mb/s Tx-Power=27 dBm
  Retry min limit:7 RTS thr:off Fragment thr=2352 B
  Power Management:off
Link Quality=78/100 Signal level:-55 dBm Noise level=-105 dBm
Rx invalid nwid:0 Rx invalid crypt:0 Rx invalid frag:0
  Tx excessive retries:0 Invalid misc:0 Missed beacon:0

pan0 no wireless extensions.

my Rate is only 24Mb/s and the real speed is not more than 300kb/s. It's
killing me..

I've tried the old madwifi driver I was using in Hardy but it can't
compile.

I will provide any info you want..

[Bug 205025] Re: Hardy - network-manager_0.6.6-0ubuntu2 cannot connect to wireless acces point

2008-03-22 Thread lod
my wifi is atheros ar5007 (242x) befor 8.04 beta release (19.03.08)
there was no problem to connect to wifi ap with WPA(WPA2) TKIP AES
encryption or without encryption. yesterday i've notised that i cannot,
and knetworkmanager or gnome network-manager hangs after the password
request. i've tought that the problem was madwifi drivers and
reinstalled ubuntu with pure beta release, but still i cannot connect.

[Bug 194497] [NEW] Usplash not displayed on MSI ER 710 laptop

2008-03-07 Thread lod
Public bug reported:

My Laptop is MSI ER710, after install there's no usplash displaying.
I've setup different possible values in grub menu.list for 'vga=' modes.
if i plug in externel monitor durring boot, on it I see the usplash and
I apears again if i unplug the monitor, but no way. tried usplash
command in console, no usplash displayed. I tried all possible values
for vga, tried other splashes. the splash is displayed only if I boot
from the Live CD. also have no monitor signal durring boot, just after
Kernel's Starting up.. and before GDM/KDM. Using (K)Ubuntu 7.10
