[Bug 1720444] Re: wifi suddenly disconnects

2017-09-29 Thread marco.pallotta
I forgot to add that with another ubuntu system (different hardware) but
same os level I have no issue. Idem (no issue) with an Android and
Windows smartphone so the problem is obviously related to my Acer
hardware.

Confirmed the bug on 16.04.1 x86_64 and seahorse 3.18.0 but also after
very long time nothing happens into searhorse whereas with "gpg --list-
keys" I can see that the imported keys appear immediately.

[Bug 1454843] Re: 10ec:b723 Realtek RTL8723BE wireless card drops connection

2016-11-05 Thread marco.pallotta
After some months I have unfortunately to correct my last posts: the workaround
I posted works at 90% but many times the card drops many packets.
Moreover even when it works the performance are very poor: 2-3Mbps vs the real
speed of 12-13Mbps.

So the problem remains.

same similar error happens when I try to install Ubuntu 14.04.4-desktop-

marks and if I go to read for logs, from command line, I see the errors:

perl: warning: setting locale failed
perl: warning: Please check that your locale settings:

[Bug 1454843] Re: 10ec:b723 Realtek RTL8723BE wireless card drops connection

2016-02-13 Thread marco.pallotta
@Vincenzo maybe it's a workaround or maybe realtek module is for many devices
and for just rtl7323be the installer should insert in modprobe dir just the
options I wrote.
In one forum I have read something similar but I'm not sure if it's true or not.

[Bug 931303] Re: "4-Way Handshake failed" connecting Wi-Fi after boot; retrying repeatedly eventually succeeds -- Broadcom BCM4321 wl

2016-02-05 Thread marco.pallotta
The bus is still present in 12.04 (Intel Corporation PRO/Wireless 3945ABG ).
After some attemps (from some minutes to many and many minutes) the connection
succeeds else if I restart the router all goes ok (but only linux sistems are
affected by this issues, no android or windows smartphone/laptop or my kindle
device suffer by this problem).

[Bug 1532357] Re: Realtek Wifi card rtl8723be seems to lose network connection

2016-01-09 Thread marco.pallotta
apport information

** Tags added: apport-collected

** Description changed:

After installing Ubuntu 14.04 64bit I encountered the continuos network hang.
Network manager doesn't seems to change its status, as well as my IP address
still remains but OS doesn't ping.
The only solution is to reboot the system and wait for next network hang (I
tested that just few commands via ssh lead to the issue).

To fix this I launched the following command and reboot the system:

  $ echo "options rtl8723be fwlps=0 ips=0" >
  /etc/modprobe.d/rtl8723be.conf

[Bug 1532357] [NEW] Realtek Wifi card rtl8723be seems to lose network connection

2016-01-08 Thread marco.pallotta
Public bug reported:

After installing Ubuntu 14.04 64bit I encountered the continuos network hang.
Network manager doesn't seems to change its status, as well as my IP address
still remains but OS doesn't ping.
The only solution is to reboot the system and wait for next network hang (I
tested that just few commands via ssh lead to the issue).

To fix this I launched the following command and reboot the system:

$ echo "options rtl8723be fwlps=0 ips=0" >
/etc/modprobe.d/rtl8723be.conf

In my situation (and old GeForce Go 6400), with a fresh install of ubuntu 14.04

1) with nouveau drivers I can login but using dash hangs X (strange visual
effects)
2) switching to nvidia makes screen blank at login

I only solved switching to gnome from unity.

[Bug 1049113] Re: DVDs video made with DVDStyler don't play ok with background audio

2012-09-13 Thread marco.pallotta
The bug assigner, in upstream, says that 'You need to install mjpegtools and
then enable use mplex for menus in
Settings/core'. The problem is that DVDStyler, in Ubuntu 12.04, doesn't have
this option.
At this point It could be a packaging issue.

[Bug 607791] Re: The system cannot recognize USB camera becouse of reset full speed USB device using uhci_hcd ... (REGRESSION)

2012-09-12 Thread marco.pallotta
On Ubuntu 12.04 now USB camera (with XD card) is correctly recognised.

The only errors I have found is a medium error on some blocks. I have run a
badblocks but no errors is returned. The strange thing is that with all of my
XD cards (three) I obtain medium error. XD cards are very old (12 years) so I
cannot exclude a real medium error but, I say again, it's strange that
badblocks returns no errors.
However, a part the above errors in dmesg, it seems that all works ok.

[Bug 1049133] [NEW] brasero process hangs if launched selecting it from contextual menu on .iso file

2012-09-11 Thread marco.pallotta
Public bug reported:

If you want to burn an iso it is simple to do it launching brasero from
contextual menu opened doing right click of the mouse just on .iso file. The
problem is that at the end of the burning processo it seems that you cannot
open brasero anymore.
The real fact is that with the above steps brasero parent process is init
(number 1) and at the end of burning it hangs. Next time you try to launch
brasero a process is already running so nothing is launched.
You can simply try it with these simple step:
- create an .iso
- right click on it and select open with brasero
- type a ps on a terminal (you will find parent process of brasero is init)
- press cancel button
- if you type agains a ps the process is always running
- launch brasero from command line: you will see * (brasero:16807): WARNING
**: An instance of Brasero is already running, exiting

Tested with brasero 3.4.1 on Ubuntu 12.04 (x86_64).

[Bug 880125] [NEW] nautilus ignores hidden file size when calculating directory disk occupancy

2011-10-22 Thread marco.pallotta
Public bug reported:

Nautilus seems to ignore hidden file (files with a dot before the name) size in
contents: field inside Basic tab of directory properties.
You can simply test this by creating, for example, 1gb file inside a directory
and re-naming with a . (dot) in front of its name. Then you can view, in the
directory properties, that disk occupancy ignore the hidden file size just
created.
This issue was also present in previous ubuntu releases.

[Bug 520589] Re: Network manager icon does not appear in notification panel at startup

2011-06-13 Thread marco.pallotta
@Charie, as sayd by Chris Coulson in comment 12 I modified the entry
Exec, in /etc/xdg/autostart/nm-applet.desktop, from

I haven't understood if I should add another entry too (that is Exec=sh

[Bug 695325] [NEW] Wrong set of receiving email path (maildir format) after imported backups from previous evolution version

2010-12-29 Thread marco.pallotta
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution

I have two evolution accounts and one of them is in maildir format whose path
is /home/marcop/.evolution/mail_unipg.
I have migrated my system from evolution 2.22, in Ubuntu 8.04, to 10.04 (next
LTS) and I imported my evolution backups (done with evolution backup/restore
tool) and all went ok but for some reasons evolution didn't imported well email
receiving path. In fact it couldn't explode my maildir account as it sayd
that i couldn't access to /home/marcop/.evolution/mail_unipg (obviously the
directory was present and with all privileges ok).

[Bug 695325] Re: Wrong set of receiving email path (maildir format) after imported backups from previous evolution version

2010-12-29 Thread marco.pallotta
The question seems related to the fact that the new home folder is
different /home/marco instead of /home/marcop (which was in 8.04). In
fact with new home path address book personal contacts aren't loaded
correctly (evolution says that it cannot access
/home/marcop/...) too.

At this point the bug is present if the backup/restore tool is just
intended to be used to migrate from one system to another but leaving
the same home path.

[Bug 692348] [NEW] update-manager cannot download linux-image-x.x.xx-xx-generic_x.x.xx-xx.xx_i386.deb

2010-12-19 Thread marco.pallotta
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: update-manager

It's some weeks that I haven't be able to download linux-image from
update-manger (10.04).
In fact it says (this is a translations as my system is in Italian language)
W: errors downloading
http://it.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/pool/main/l/linux/linux-image-2.6.32-26-generic_2.6.32-26.48_i386.deb;
The strange thing is that both via Firefox and wget all works ok (that is the
package can be downloaded without problems) and this is the only package that
update-manager cannot download (I also did a check to sync repos but with no
success).

[Bug 483283] Re: microphone not enabled, by default, in acer aspire 5920

2010-12-14 Thread marco.pallotta
To be more precise about this issue I can say that, in the audio preferences of
development release:
1) the input device is mute (I don't know if it is the intended behavior)
2) the input volume is too low
3) the device is selected to Microphone 1 instead of Microphone 2
