[Bug 480617] Re: dpkg-reconfigure samba fails with sed error

2009-12-29 Thread milky-cow-101
Debian Bug # 558116 Fixes this issue apparently. http://bugs.debian.org
/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=558116

Would be nice to have in Ubuntu 9.10, because right now I don't know how
to get a clean smb.conf file.

[Bug 472681] [NEW] Samba returns NT_STATUS_NOT_SUPPORTED when trying to view list of shares

2009-11-03 Thread milky-cow-101
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: samba

Whenever I try and get a listing of shares from the Windows 7
computer... "Error returning browse list: NT_STATUS_NOT_SUPPORTED."
Printing using CUPS also fails with "Session Startup Failed:
NT_STATUS_LOGON_FAILURE" and I can't see anything. Seems very
pervasive! Just upgraded to Karmic, yet everything samba-related on
Jaunty and Intrepid was perfect.

danwood76 responded here and thinks this is a bug in Karmic's samba:
http://ubuntuforums.org/showpost.php?p=8230150&postcount=23

"Ok I am having this same problem.

The only live CD I have is for 8.10 and that works with my Windows 7
machine perfecty.

So I downloaded the latest samba source and compiled it, guess what?
smbclient now works and going to smb://{WINDOWS 7 MACHINE NAME} allows me to
view the shares on that machine.

So I assume this is a regreassion as to a configuration issue as the old
config files still work with the newer version of samba."

[Bug 370180] [NEW] migration-assistant doesn't prompt when files to be copied exceed available disk space

2009-04-30 Thread milky-cow-101
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: migration-assistant

Migration-assistant found my user accounts on Vista, and defaults, if I
select the names, to copy music, pictures, and documents.

The problem I've run into, that may apply only to my RAID set up on my
Asus P6T motherboard, is that when those document files exceed the
available disk space, Ubuntu doesn't prompt me, and just fills up the
drive anyways.

This causes many problems because Ubuntu can't run properly when the
/home disk space is full. I had to re-install several times before I
figured out that this is what the problem was.

There should at least be a prompt to let me know that the files *cannot*
copy without more disk space.

[Bug 365668] Re: Rhythmbox scans music library at startup, but then asks "Search for suitable plugin?" every time it opens

2009-04-23 Thread milky-cow-101
Addition:

This happens with files like the following:

application/x-mswinurl, vob, ifo, and bup files (that happen to be in my
music folder b/c they're music DVDs), RTF, "Internet Shortcut", and shn
files.

** Description changed:

  From Question #65502,
+ https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/rhythmbox/+question/65502

"When I start rhythmbox each time it scans my music collection and tries to
find plugins for some not-playable (such as application/x-mswinurl) files.
It display message "Search for suitable plugin?" and if I click Yes it found
nothing.
This message appear several times per collection scan because of several
files of that kind.
  All gstreamer-[good,bad,ugly,ffmpeg] packages are installed.
At next rhythmbox startup everything happen again.
So how can I disable plugin search function at startup?

(Ubuntu 9.04 beta if it makes sense)"

I have this problem on Jaunty as well.

[Bug 355522] Re: DBus error org.gtk.Private.RemoteVolumeMonitor.Failed

2009-04-18 Thread milky-cow-101
Yes, this happens when I try to mount an external drive, by clicking the
drive in "Computer" in Nautilus.

And I found this https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=492242 Bug
492242 - Mounting NTFS or HFS drives displays seemingly pointless
message "An operation is already pending"

"Description of problem:
As I was testing the nouveau driver using the Test Day 2009-03-25 Live CD, I
found that attempting to mount my HFS+ or NTFS internal partitions displayed
this error message:

Unable to mount location
DBus error org.gtk.Private.RemoteVolumeMonitor.Failed: An operation is already
pending

However, after a second or two the partitions mounted as usual.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
Test Day 2009-03-25 Live CD

How reproducible:
Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Select Places > Computer from the menu
2. Attempt to mount HFS+ or NTFS volumes

Actual results:
Error message: "DBus error org.gtk.Private.RemoteVolumeMonitor.Failed: An
operation is already pending" as the volume is being mounted

Expected results:
Volumes mount without the error message being displayed

Additional info:
I was running off of a CD, not USB media- maybe the operation was just taking
longer than expected because of the slow read speeds?
"
