[Bug 593202] [NEW] gksudo does not provide any feedback if you get the password wrong

2010-06-12 Thread mogwai
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gksu

Running anything with gksudo does not provide any feedback to the user if you
get the password wrong on the 1st (and only) attempt.
Running gksudo form the command-line (eg: gksudo nautilus) results in the
following error if you get your password wrong on the 1st (and only) attempt:

sudo: 3 incorrect password attempts
 try again.

I would expect a "Please Try Again"-like box to appear and allow me my 2
remaining tries.

Package and Version: gksu 2.0.2-2ubuntu2

[Bug 395208] Re: [9.10 regression] HDA power_save=10

2009-11-02 Thread mogwai
There is a work-around that seems to work for most people with the Intel HDA
cards/chips:
Commenting "options snd-hda-intel power_save=10 power_save_controller=N" in
/etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf
Or see: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RSbw42MkPvE

PS: I am using Karmic 9.10 official release (Kernel: 2.6.31-14-generic
#48-Ubuntu SMP Fri Oct 16 14:05:01 UTC 2009 x86_64)

Also, there seems to be a lot of duplicate bugs out there, most with
Intel HDA cards/chipsets. Might be an idea to go through and mark as
dups, perhaps?

[Bug 462714] Re: loud popping sounds, no actual audio output

I am having a very similar problem. I am getting seeming regular pops
happening, usually quiet then loud; the pattern repeats. While I am
running amarok, the clicks/pops seem to stop, that was until I noticed
that my music is actually skipping at about the same interval as the
pops.

2009-03-26 Thread mogwai
I have a IBM/Lenovo Thinkpad R61i and am having the same problem.
The function key for the lcd-brightness does NOT work.
Adding "acpi_backlight=vendor" makes things work, but it creates a delay in
detecting when the power is unplugged.
During this period (60 secs approx.) the brightness keys do not work. When it
picks up that it has been unplugged, everything is alright again. This delay
also exists in the opposite situation (it has been unplugged and you plug it
back in).

[Bug 69306] Re: Choppy and jerky recorded sound with snd-hda-intel

2008-10-27 Thread mogwai
I am running a Lenovo/IBM R61/R61i Laptop and am having trouble with Input as
well.
Sound output works as it should, but I try plugging in my headset microphone
and it (the mic) does not work.
I remember in a previous version (feisty or gutsy) I had to enable -backports
and -proposed then installed -backports-modules, change the volume control to
enable the mic boost option, and I was away laughing.
Problem is I cannot get the mic boost option, as I think this could be same as
it was then.
Anyway, here is some info:

[Bug 277039] Re: Microphone not working with Intel ICH8 Conexant CX20549 (Venice)

2008-10-08 Thread mogwai
Had it working in Gutsy. Had to enable backports an install
linux-modules-backports.
Tried this in Hardy, but to no avail and also found my suspend broken.
Uninstall fixed broken suspend.
On to Intrepid!

2008-10-02 Thread mogwai

** Attachment removed: "lspci.log"

   http://launchpadlibrarian.net/18131479/lspci.log

** Description changed:

Microphone does not work - full stop.
No internal, just an external jack. Have tested microphone on Windows.
I am running Hardy on a Thinkpad R61 (pretty much Intel (ICH8) everything).
lspci reports it as: 00:1b.0 Audio device: Intel Corporation 82801H (ICH8
Family) HD Audio Controller (rev 03)

  alsa-info: http://www.alsa-
  project.org/db/?f=fec11b379fc7501c4c72d3ec16a36b9eb90de5fe

Have tried most, if not all of the suggested fixes to no avail.
Does not work with the Hardy live CD either.
Currently downloading Gutsy because I had it working in there, so this may be
a regression bug. Stay tuned.
Also downloading Intrepid Alpha 6 to test as well.

Have tried installing the linux-backports-modules to no avail either (I
think this is what worked in Gutsy), and it broke my Suspend. Suspend
works after completely removing linux-backports-modules though.
-
- lspci attached.

[Bug 256048] Re: Loading PDF file hang on Loading...

2008-09-22 Thread mogwai
Same problem here. Though, after reading through the comments I want to
say that resizing the window does cause evince to render the PDF.

I have found that this happens more often than not where you open a PDF
that has not been opened since the last session/reboot.
