[Bug 1531345] Re: Thunderbird/Firefox icon blurry in unity launcher and in alt+tab interface

2017-03-02 Thread ockels
Solved in my case -> Firetray addon for thunderbird caused the blurry
icon. https://addons.mozilla.org/nl/thunderbird/addon/firetray/

After loading thunderbird with firetray addon both firefox & thunderbird
icons went blurry. After closing thunderbird they went normal. Disabling
the addon fixed my issue.

[Bug 219057] Re: Bluetooth does not coexist with WiFi

2016-04-18 Thread ockels
Stumbled across this bug installing 14.04.4 on my new HP 14-ac181 low-budget
laptop.
First of all my wireless had unusable signal strength. After fixing it with the
following code:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:hanipouspilot/rtlwifi
sudo apt-get install rtlwifi-new-dkms linux-firmware rtl8723au-bt-dkms
echo "options rtl8723be ant_sel=2" | sudo tee /etc/modprobe.d/rtl8723be.conf

Wireless & BT worked.

But Wireless & BT do not coexist together. The following things happen:

- Without an AC adapter BT does not discover any device
- With BT & Wireless both enabled BT is very slow (eg: A2DP sound gets choppy
and out of sync) + my wifi speeds are unusable
- With eth cable, AC adapter and wireless disabled BT works like a charm

Expected behaviour:

All interfaces should work together.

Have you tried GPS only?

As i said, the GPS signal only works like a charm on Android on the same
hardware, so it isn't a hw-issue.
After i tested the android image i flashed the phone back to the latest
firmware downloaded from the BQ site and the GPS is still unusable for me.

Cellular and WLAN info can speed things up a but, but GPS only should
work also.

2015-11-23 Thread ockels
Still a completely unusable GPS ubuntu system on the BQ Aquaris 4.5
here 15.04 (OTA-8) updated 23-11-2015 bought in the second flash sale.
A GPS only fix can hardly be found. WLAN and/or celldata does help a bit
to 'guess' the location. But it's never accurate or fast enough to be
usable. I thought maybe my phone was broken so i tried flashing the
phone with android firmware from BQ and a GPS-fix was found whithin 3
minutes. Of course i flashed it back to ubuntu, but the this bug is
present since the beginning and i'm still hoping this annoying issue
will be fixed with a high priority.

[Bug 1407152] Re: Can't log out from KDE 5

2015-03-13 Thread ockels
@Jonathan Riddell (jr): Bug confirmed here too, sddm was at least
starting before today's apt full-upgrade ... :( Now SDDM won't even
start. I might add that switching to other users (which are manually
added from the terminal, because the usermanagement is missing in
systemsetting) didn't work either. It gave the same symptons as the
black logging out bug.

[Bug 1222249] Re: [Satellite S50D-A, IDT 92HD99BXX, Speaker, ATAPI] No sound at all

2014-12-30 Thread ockels
Confirmed here too. This issue has not been resolved in ubuntu 14.04
64bit. Bought a brandnew toshiba S50-A /S50t-A with no sound after
succesfull installation with a dualboot installation with windows 8 in
UEFI mode. Sound indicators work, but silence from speakers and
headphone jacks...

~$ aplay -l
 Lijst van PLAYBACK hardware-apparaten
kaart 0: HDMI [HDA ATI HDMI], apparaat 3: HDMI 0 [HDMI 0]
  Sub-apparaten: 1/1

  Sub-apparaten: 1/1
  Sub-apparaat #0: subdevice #0

Under no circumstances sound when installed with UEFI-(dual) boot
enabled. I tried building newest DKMS drivers for intel HD, changing
asound.conf preferred card to 1 but no sound whatsoever (because i
thought HDMI output was set to default at first) .Toggling all settings
in ALSAMIXER, pavucontrol did not work either. (The only thing that did
respond was the built in microphone that responded on input).

The only solution that provided sound was to set the bios into CSM-mode
(RonW (warden-ronald) on 2013-10-02 tx!). So i ended up deleting all
windows 8 crap. But still after hibernation mode a reboot only could
force back sound. Killing, restarting pulsaudio or alsa had no effect
also.

[Bug 1394923] Re: ubuntu 14.04.1 missing language-pack-nl-base (= 1:14.04+20140707

2014-11-22 Thread ockels
Confirmed on Xubuntu 14.04.1 fresh install. Selecting systemwide
language gives depency errors.

Here's a quick fix:

#!/bin/bash
wget

wget
http://nl.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/pool/main/l/language-pack-nl-base/language-pack-nl-base_14.04+20140410_all.deb

sudo dpkg -i --ignore-depends=language-pack-gnome-nl --ignore-depends
=language-pack-gnome-nl-base language-pack-gnome-
nl_14.04+20140410_all.deb language-pack-gnome-nl-

language-pack-nl-base_14.04+20140410_all.deb

save as fix.sh and run sudo sh fix.sh in a terminal.

Afterwards you'll be able to apply systemwide language settings in the
control panel.

[Bug 559883] Re: lucid X crashes with dual head configuration when opengl is enabled with intel GM945

2010-12-14 Thread ockels
Same here on Intel 82G33/G31 on a dual screen setup (2 x 1440x900). Both
compiz and kwin are likely not able to display larger resolutions than
2048x2048 with OpenGL. - Crash - Really annoying. A workaround to have
some form of compositing enabled (transparency in widgets etc) is to use
metacity as default window-manager and enable compositing (default is
disabled) by executing :

gconftool-2 -s '/apps/metacity/general/compositing_manager' --type bool
true

A dual screen / large resolution screen setup will then work and you
have nice transparent widgets. Not perfect, but workable for now...

[Bug 395710] Re: Opening Places/Computer nautilus crash with Segmentation fault

2009-07-07 Thread ockels
Besides the 'my computer icon' are mounted ISO files also affected -
Nautilus crashes too

After purging purging:

ubuntuone-client
ubuntuone-client-gnome
ubuntuone-ppa-beta

The problem is indeed 'fixed' just like Filippo Santovito said earlier
