[Bug 1047882] Re: Enable Mobile Broadband sometimes fails to appear in indicator menu -- LG GT540

2012-09-12 Thread palimmo
Since yesterday, I have discovered something really interesting.
After 2 minutes that the mobile is plugged in, the voice Enable Mobile
Broadband appears and I can surf the web.
Hence the question is:
why should I wait 2-3 minutes (not an eternity... but quite a long time) before
the connection is fully recognised and available?

Thanks

[Bug 1047882] [NEW] Mobile Broadband Connection not always available

2012-09-08 Thread palimmo
Public bug reported:

I use my Mobile LG GT540 and Ubuntu 12.04 64 bit to connect in 3G mode. But it
works randomly.
Really often I can't find the voice Enable Mobile Broadband in the nm-applet
menu and unplug and replug my mobile doesn't work most of the times.
Hence, I need to restart Ubuntu (often I need to restart it several times
before the connection is available).

I've tried to launch Ubuntu and THEN plug the mobile, but that doesn't give me
the certainty to have a working connection.
Kill and relaunch nm-applet gives the same result.

It seems that sometimes the modem of my mobile is immediately well
recognised, sometimes not. That means a lot of time wasting...

Thanks!

yes, since yesterday this bug

But, as you can read, it involves pop-up windows (browsers) and update manager

[Bug 1012734] Re: Invisible LibreOffice Icon In Launcher

2012-07-16 Thread palimmo
Hello. In recent days I have noticed this strange behaviour.
When I start Writer or Impress (I haven't lock thier icons on the launcher), it
can happen that:
a) it is not listed between the applications in the launcher (and even in the
ALT-TAB window there is a hole);
b) may be in the launcher but lower down, with a grey empty area between the
last icon and the Writer icon.

I hope you're right. I've already seen 5.6.0 → 5.8.0 → 5.10.0 → 5.12.0 and
then 5.12.0 → 5.14.0.
I hope not to see 5.14.0 → 5.16.0.

Good work!

[Bug 990870] Re: External USB keyboard not working in Ubuntu 12.04

2012-07-06 Thread palimmo
Same problem. USB Keyboard HAMA SL640 on Ubuntu 12.04 64bit.
~$ lsusb
Bus 006 Device 003: ID 04d9:1503 Holtek Semiconductor, Inc. Shortboard Lefty

So the OS recognized it but the keyboard doesn't react ... even the Caps Lock
and Num Lock keys don't blink.
Regarding the legacy support (useful for GRUB), I have found no entry in the
BIOS.
In GRUB it works sometimes.
On the same laptop I have Win7 in dual boot. And I have to say that it always
works on it.
Surprisingly now I have booted my laptop: the usb keyboard hasn't worked in
GRUB but it has worked since the ubuntu login! And now I'm typing with it.
It means that Ubuntu has the right drivers and they work. But how to load
them always correctly?

[Bug 1021770] [NEW] USB Keyboard works occasionally

2012-07-06 Thread palimmo
Public bug reported:

A few days ago I bought a SL640 Hama USB keyboard to use on my laptop with
Ubuntu 12.04. But I'm having problems, as it works one time out of 10! On my
laptop I have also Win7 in dual boot. And I have to say that it always works on
it.
And on my girlfriend's laptop, with Win Vista, always works.
 Here are some infos:

~$ lsusb Bus 006 Device 003: ID 04d9:1503 Holtek Semiconductor, Inc.
Shortboard Lefty

As you can see, the OS recognized it but the keyboard doesn't react ...
even the Caps Lock and Num Lock keys don't blink. Regarding the legacy
support (useful for GRUB), I have found no entry in the BIOS. But I'm
not interested in it. I just want to use it in Ubuntu. However, in GRUB
it works sometimes.

Surprisingly, now I have booted my laptop: the usb keyboard hasn't
worked in GRUB but it has worked since the ubuntu login! And now I'm
typing with it. Well.. it means that Ubuntu has the right drivers and
they work. But how to load them always correctly?

thanks in advance!

-- Another example.
After several plug/unplug actions, now it works.

[Bug 1020909] [NEW] Unity Launcher and Writer icon: problems

2012-07-04 Thread palimmo
Public bug reported:

Hello. In recent days I have noticed a strange behaviour.
When I start Writer (I haven't lock its icon on the launcher), it can happen
that:
a) it is not listed between the applications in the launcher (and even in the
ALT-TAB window there is a hole);
b) may be in the launcher but lower down, with a grey area between the last
icon and the Writer icon.
I'll post some pictures to clarify.
Ideas?
Thank you!

[Bug 781931] Re: New windows are moved to front but don't take focus

2012-06-24 Thread palimmo
This bug is really annoying. And the trick at #34 it is useful only when you
decide to open new windows (e.g. Nautilus).
Pop-up windows (in browser softwares; Update Manager, etc.) are really
problematic!

[Bug 988716] Re: Home folder doesn't correctly open in panel

2012-04-26 Thread palimmo
** Description changed:

When I open Home folder from the Launcher, Nautilus opens and it is
completely maximized.
But the panel report commands of the previous application I was using, in
example Firefox.
As you can see in the image.
+ If I choose one of the voice of the panel, it is one of the Firefox voice.
For example, if I try to close it clicking on X, it asks me to close the
Firefox window... not the Nautilus one.
+ If I click somewhere in the nautilus window, the panel changes and reports
correctly the Nautilus commands.
+
+ If I'm working on a Firefox maximized window and then I click on the
+ launcher- Home folder, I can reproduce this bug always.

Blue traingle at the left of the Home Folder icon.

** Description changed:

When I open Home folder from the Launcher, Nautilus opens and it is
completely maximized.
- But the panel reports commands of the previous application I was using, for
example Firefox. As you can see in the image.
+ But the panel reports commands of the previous application I was using, for
example Firefox. As you can see in the two images.
+ In the second image is visible that the triangle at the left of the Home
Folder is blue, instead of white.

If I choose one of the voice of the panel, it is one of the Firefox voices.
For example, if I try to close the window clicking on X, it asks me to close
the Firefox window instead of the Nautilus one.
If I click somewhere in the nautilus window, the panel changes and reports
correctly the Nautilus commands.

[Bug 781931] Re: New windows are moved to front but don't take focus

2012-04-26 Thread palimmo
Same problem.
So far, i've noticed it only with Home folder.

When I open Home folder from the Launcher, Nautilus opens and it is completely
maximized.
But the panel reports commands of the previous application I was using, for
example Firefox.
The triangle at the left of the Home Folder is blue, instead of white.

If I choose one of the voice of the panel, it is one of the Firefox voices. For
example, if I try to close the window clicking on X, it asks me to close the
Firefox window instead of the Nautilus one.
If I click somewhere in the nautilus window, the panel changes and reports
correctly the Nautilus commands.

If I'm working on a Firefox maximized window and then I click on the launcher-
Home folder, I can reproduce this bug always.
And unfortunately this happens really often...

[Bug 985594] Re: HUD: icon wrongly refreshed on menu updates

2012-04-24 Thread palimmo
well... I can see some commands that have no reason
ex Sunset: 08.33 PM . If I give Enter, nothing occurs.

The worst thing, I think, is that the icon isn't always the correct one related
to the command selected.
As you can see in the screenshot above.

thanks!

[Bug 983910] Re: Touchpad scrolling doesn't work occasionally with Nautilus

2012-04-22 Thread palimmo
Yes. It happens not only with Nautilus. The same happens with
gnome-system-monitor.
In these last days occurs more often, I think.

[Bug 985328] Re: Touchpad scrolling stops working on gtk3 apps after scrolling off-limits

2012-04-22 Thread palimmo
I can say that it stops immediately, even if I don't try to scroll off-limits.
I open Nautilus or System monitor and I can't scroll from the first moment.

[Bug 983910] [NEW] Touchpad scrolling doesn't work occasionally with Nautilus

2012-04-17 Thread palimmo
Public bug reported:

Touchpad scrolling doesn't work occasionally with Nautilus.
I can scroll up-down just on the right side, but not in the center of the page
or in other points.
In the same time it works normally in Firefox.
I'm not able to reproduce this bug. However I have noticed it just in these two
last days.

[Bug 795760] Re: HDD clicking sound on netbook

2012-04-17 Thread palimmo
Battery mode:

management level
Advanced power management level: 127[/code]
Adapter mode:
[code]alessio@alessio-ubuntu:~$ sudo hdparm -I /dev/sda | grep Advanced power
management level
Advanced power management level: 254[/code]

I can hear that bad noise every... I think 20-30 seconds.

I attach the file requested by Fabio Marconi.

[Bug 973170] [NEW] Ubuntu 12.04: show launcher when no windows are open

2012-04-04 Thread palimmo
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu 12.04 beta 2 64 bit.
NVidia G105M

As in my previous Ubuntu versions, I decide to set the Launcher in auto-hide
mode.
Correctly, when I have a maximized window, no launcher is visible.

But...when I see only the desktop (all the windows are minimized or no windows
are open) the launcher isn't shown. Why?
It's pretty ugly to see the bare desktop without launcher.
