[Bug 1838249] Re: crash on startup

2024-04-25 Thread Ramon Crehuet
In Ubuntu 22.04.4 LTS I can confirm this bug. Updating to Libreffice 24.2 does
not solve it.
Calling libreoffice with:
SAL_DISABLE_CUPS=true libreoffice24.2
solves the crash.
In fact, FoxitReader also crashes when printing. And the gnome-control-center
crashes when setting printers. So the problem is not with Libreofficce.
The error given is:

dbus[508084]: arguments to dbus_message_iter_append_basic() were incorrect,
assertion "_dbus_check_is_valid_utf8 (*string_p)" failed in file
../../../dbus/dbus-message.c line 2760.
This is normally a bug in some application using the D-Bus library.

D-Bus not built with -rdynamic so unable to print a backtrace
Aborted (core dumped)

All the crashes (libroffice and gnome-control-center) can be avoided by
setting DBUS_FATAL_WARNINGS=0

[Bug 1890491] [NEW] A pacemaker node fails monitor (probe) and stop /start operations on a resource because it returns "rc=189

2020-08-05 Thread Ramon Grullon
Public bug reported:

Cause: Pacemaker implicitly ordered all stops needed on a Pacemaker
Remote node before the stop of the node's Pacemaker Remote connection,
including stops that were implied by fencing of the node. Also,
Pacemaker scheduled actions on Pacemaker Remote nodes with a failed
connection so that the actions could be done once the connection is
recovered, even if the connection wasn't being recovered (for example,
if the node was shutting down when the failure occurred).

Consequence: If a Pacemaker Remote node needed to be fenced while it was
in the process of shutting down, once the fencing completed pacemaker
scheduled probes on the node. The probes fail because the connection is
not actually active. Due to the failed probe, a stop is scheduled which
also fails, leading to fencing of the node again, and the situation
repeats itself indefinitely.

Fix: Pacemaker Remote connection stops are no longer ordered after
implied stops, and actions are not scheduled on Pacemaker Remote nodes
when the connection is failed and not being started again.

Result: A Pacemaker Remote node that needs to be fenced while it is in
the process of shutting down is fenced once, without repeating
indefinitely.

The fix seems to be fixed in pacemaker-1.1.21-1.el7

I thought I could help in some way with more information. By the way,
I've found the solution and my SSD works fine right now. You may want to
take a lookt at https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=201685.
Comment #294 (https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=201685#c294),

[Bug 1796140] Re: Printers are added automatically, even after they are deleted

2020-04-27 Thread Ramon Rocha
Same happens to me plus that I want to install a local(USB) printer but ubuntu
only shows network printers which are added automatically and doesn't show usb
printers connected locally..
Ubuntu use to be very good before with printing. but it's all messed up since
the last 3 upgrades I'm having this same problem wich doesn't seem to be given
attention.

I tried all fixes found online and none of them worked for me, enven
disabling avahi completely but the USB printers doesn't show up either.

this it was said this should be a feature we turn on/off and not a
setting that can't be resolved.

Thank you for your reply and your work in general, Hui Wang! If any
testing is helpful let me know. I get the Product Name "20QES01L00" via
dmidecode but future versions will check for bios version instead,
right? Does 1.1.9-0ubuntu1.2testucm already do this? (I had the led
problem also with the -43 kernel but not with earlier ones)

2020-03-31 Thread ramon
I have a X1C7, Ubuntu 19.10 (Kernel 5.3.0-45), and only get a "dummy
output" in the gnome settings. If I boot with boot parameter
snd_hda_intel.dmic_detect=0 I get a working soundcard (hda intel pch,
only stereo) but no mic support. Also the mute LED does not work (but
did a few kernel updates before as did the 4.0 support). Any hints? Wait
for 46-kernel? Maybe my specific model is not in the ucm files?

[Bug 1746340] Re: Samsung SSD corruption (fsck needed)

2020-03-07 Thread Ramon Fontes
I have a Dell Inspiron 14 5000 Series-5480. The most strange thing is
that I bought my laptop about 1 year ago and I've installed Ubuntu
18.04.1 with kernel 4.15.0-65-xxx (default installation) and everything
worked as expected. However, the same problem happened with any other
kernel version (including 4.17.0-041700-generic).

Then, after having some problems with my system I've installed Ubuntu 18.04.4.
The kernel version installed with the system was 5.3 and after observing the
same problem with the disk I've tried to install 4.15.0-65 and the problem has
not been solved (I don't remember exactly which kernel version I had in the
first time (e.g. what was the xxx)). Finally, I've found that
4.17.0-041700-generic works and I don't know why. It didn't work with Ubuntu
18.04.1 and it works with 18.04.4. This is really strange and I need to use
most recent kernel versions, because I need to use some features I've
implemented for v5.5-rc1.

[Bug 1746340] Re: Samsung SSD corruption (fsck needed)

2020-03-06 Thread Ramon Fontes
Hello all!

I'm experiencing the same problem with an adata SU800NS38. My SSD works
fine with the 4.17.0-041700-generic kernel version but unfortunately
this is the only kernel version it works perfectly. In addition to try
other kernel versions such as 4.x, I also tried 5.0 - 5.5. The disk
becomes read-only during use and I need to use fsck whenever I start the
system.

[Bug 1516451] Re: check_disk plugin broken after upgrade to 15.10

2019-07-16 Thread Ramon Grullon
The reason why this alert pops out is related to running sosreport on this
node. Nagios can not access it - which is good as this directory is only
accessible by root:
# ll /sys/kernel/debug/ | grep trac
drwx-- 8 root root 0 Jul 9 09:06 tracing/

To validate/replicate this behaviour, please open three terminals.

Terminal 1, run
mount | grep -i tracing
- no output here as this directory is generally not presented by mount

Terminal 2:
mkdir testing; cd testing
while true;do mount | grep -i tracing > mounted-$(date +%s); done

on terminal 1 please run
cd testing
watch ls -lt

Terminal 3
sudo sosreport -a --all-logs

Watch Terminal 1. On the beginning, you will see files created with 0 in size.
When you start sosreport in another window/tmux this file gets populated -
meaning munt can see it.
Why does it become available? Sosreport gathers diagnostic information and
initiates it. This directory is not visible from mount during normal operation.

[Bug 1827159] Re: check_all_disks includes squashfs /snap/* which are 100%

2019-07-16 Thread Ramon Grullon
Currently experiencing this issue at customer site where there is a
permission issue as nagios user can't access this directory, this
particular mount point/directory is owned by root and the permission set
on this is 700.

The -X tracefs is not working. Would a new check be needed for tracefs
similar to the one for squashfs?

[Bug 1638842] Re: network-manager does not manage ethernet and bluetooth interfaces when Ubuntu 16.10 is installed using chroot/netboot method

2018-03-07 Thread RamOn RabasO Meca
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1676547 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1676547

Ubuntu 17.10 here, final solution for me was #36.

Not enough with a blank file in /etc/NetworkManager/conf.d/10-globally-
managed-devices.conf and not solved modifying directly on /usr/lib/. I
had to cp the file from /usr/lib to /etc/ and modify "unmanaged-devices"
to none there, as Silje said.

Thanks!

[Bug 1711396] [NEW] regression: UI terribly slow or not usable in linux kernel 4.4.0-92

2017-08-17 Thread Ramon Rivas
Public bug reported:

Recently after running a bunch of upgrades, including the kernel, my
system became terribly slow. At one time after a successful login,
opening Chrome Browser, which is usually really fast to open, took more
than 10 minutes to open. After that I tried to even login and the system
never left from the login screen.

I decided to hard-reset my computer and booted instead with the previous
available Kernel version. (Version 4,4,0-91) and everything works fine.

In summary:
Linux Kernel 4.4.0-91-generic and everything before it works fine.
Linux Kernel 4.4.0-92-generic makes my computer unusable.

** Affects: linux-meta (Ubuntu)

[Bug 1709670] [NEW] logrotate never recovers if the statefile is corrupted

2017-08-09 Thread Ramon Grullon
Public bug reported:

- Install logrotate
- Run "/etc/cron.daily/logrotate" ## The first logrotate run will generate the
statefile "var/lib/logrotate/status"
- Modify "/var/lib/logrotate/status" by removing the first line in order to
corrupt the file
- Re-run "/etc/cron.daily/logrotate" and you will get something like this
"error: bad top line in state file /var/lib/logrotate/status" every time you
run logrotate

logrotate never recovers if the statefile is corrupted unless you remove
it or fix the corruption by hand.

System will eventually run out of disk space and crash.

[Bug 1626420] [NEW] mysql-server fails to upgrade if it is not running

2016-09-22 Thread Ramon Casha
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu 16.04.1 LTS

mysql-server:
  Installed: 5.7.15-0ubuntu0.16.04.1

If mysql server is installed but not running, upgrade will fail with an error.
Expected behaviour: If MySQL is not running, the script should launch it.

I have MySQL server installed but I changed the configuration so that it
doesn't run automatically. Whenever there's an upgrade, this fails with
an error as shown below. This is a bug in the packaging/scripts of mysql
server, not in mysql-server itself.

2015-09-20 Thread ramon
Hi, Christopher.

kernel linux 4.3.0-040300rc1-generic and it has the problem.
kernel linux 3.19.8-031908 doesn't have the problem.

10x.

[Bug 1399544] [NEW] Freeciv client can't Start New Game

2014-12-04 Thread Ramon Casha
Public bug reported:

Run freeciv-gtk2 -l freeciv.log, and pressed Start New Game.
The GUI displayed the following messages:

Starting local server...
Couldn't connect to the server.
We probably couldn't start it from here.
You'll have to start one manually. Sorry...

The log file contained the following:

This is the server for Freeciv version 2.4.2
You can learn a lot about Freeciv at http://www.freeciv.org/
3: in log_init() [log.c::231]: log started
0: in server_open_socket() [sernet.c::1146]: bind failed: Address already in use
0: bind failed: Address already in use

If I run freeciv-server manually, I can connect to network game and
from then on it works.

Freeciv (client, data, server) version is 2.4.2-1
Ubuntu version 14.04.1 LTS
Running under KDE

[Bug 1303167] Re: svn with kerberos-gssapi auth doesn't work

2014-04-28 Thread Ramon Ziai
Here's a tiny patch that adds the flag for GSSAPI support in the
debian/rules file. The unit tests failed on my machine but that seems to
be unrelated. One would probably have to add the build dependency on
libkrb5-dev somewhere, but I don't know where that shold happen.

[Bug 1282975] [NEW] Grizzly quantum agent with openvswitch-datapath-lts-raring-dkms fails to start

2014-02-21 Thread Ramon Acedo
Public bug reported:

Logging bug here as initially it seems it has to do with the
openvswitch-datapath-lts-raring-dkms but can't confirm it yet.

The Quantum agent from the Cloud Archive for Grizzly wont start if using
the 3.8 hwe kernel in precise and the openvswitch-datapath-lts-raring-
dkms.

This used to work a couple of months ago. Tried in different physical
and virtual machines with the same result:

[Bug 1084380] Re: let the user set timeout and maximum connection attempts

2014-01-23 Thread Ramon
Haven't tested this setting, my kernel has no support for wi-fi, but it

looks right, however.

[Bug 1084380] Re: let the user set timeout and maximum connection attempts

2014-01-23 Thread Ramon
This would make possible to the user set the timeout for
ValidateAuthentication() - in both backends. I've not tested it, my
kernel doesn't supports wi-fi. Hope it works.

[Bug 1264149] [NEW] package roundcube-core 0.9.2-2 failed to install/upgrade: ErrorMessage: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1

2013-12-25 Thread Ramon Reyes
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1243436 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1243436

Public bug reported:

I was installing roundcube. Since I had forgotten the administrative
login for roundcube, I decided to abort and attempt a downgrade in order
to try and ensure the roundcube upgrade process goes through more
smoothly.

After that, do-release-upgrade continued until it suddenly aborted. I am
uncertain as to whether or not it completed the rest of the OS upgrade
prior to error exit.

Investigating this and will report back ASAP.

root@server:# lsb_release -rd
Description:Ubuntu 13.10
Release:13.10

root@server:# apt-cache policy roundcube
roundcube:

  Version table:
 *** 0.9.2-2 0
500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ saucy/universe amd64 Packages
100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

I expected the install to immediately drop the attempt to upgrade
roundcube, or at least revert back to its original configurations.

What happened instead was that it exited with an error code.
