The Hardy Heron kernel was recently uploaded for testing. We'd really appreciate it if you could try testing with this newer kernel and verify if this issue still exists. Unfortunately, the Hardy Heron Alpha1 LiveCD was released with the older 2.6.22 kernel. You'll have to manually install the newer Hardy Heron kernel in order to test. This should not be the case for Alpha2. However, here are the instructions to install (if you choose to do so): 1) edit the file /etc/apt/sources.list and add the following line: deb http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu hardy main restricted 2) sudo apt-get update 3) sudo apt-get install linux-image-2.6.24-1-generic 4) reboot and select the new kernel from the grub menu After you've tested, please feel free to revert back - ie boot into the old kernel, sudo apt-get remove linux-image-2.6.24-1-generic, and remove the line from /etc/apt/sources.list . Please update this report with your results. Thanks in advance! I've opened a task against the new linux package (now simply called 'linux') and will close the 2.6.22 package as this issue is not an SRU candidate. [Bug 152988] Toshiba P100 Fans not working properly
Public bug reported: Hi I am using Ubuntu Feisty at the moment. I was always under the impression that my fans on my Toshiba Satellite P100 worked correctly. However, I noticed that when doing graphics intensive tasks the computer does get quite hot .. up to 100C while drawing in the Gimp or playing Savage. This is ambient temperature I believe and not the actual CPU temp as Linux cannot detect the sensors for the laptop. When the CPU is working a fan does come on.. however I don't think it's the Graphics card fan. BTW The graphics card is Nvidia Geforce 7600 Go with 128MB ram with the restricted drivers loaded. According to the Nvidia settings application, GPU temp hardly ever goes over 80C. Also, the bios is a Phoenix bios which I believe is known to cause issues. Lastly I also updated my bios to version 3.30 (latest is now 3.80) and compiled a custom DSDT (this was to get sound working). A number of people have reported similar issues on the Toshiba support forum.. but of course Toshiba does not support Linux at all. Please let me know if you need more information. Hi, Unfortunately, since I've reported the bug I've upgraded to Ubuntu feisty and am now using the gnome desktop. So I can't check this. [Bug 130907] only critical trip point 104C
Public bug reported: Hi. I've got a Toshiba Satellite P100. I've been running Ubuntu Feisty for a while now (couple of months?) and it seems fine, except for the acpi temp. On investigation, I found that the /proc/acpi/fan directory is empty and that the /proc/acpi/thermal_zone/THRM/trip_points contain the following: critical (S5): 104 C passive: 104 C: tc1=2 tc2=3 tsp=40 devices=0xdf8559c8 To me that seems way too high, and may explain why my laptop got up to 90C the other day when playing a game. Most days it will get to about 75 if I'm doing something intensive, but the fans normally kick in. Since, I've been paying much more attention and noticed that some days the fan will kick in quite regularly, and other days not. I always power down the laptop (i.e. do not suspend or hibernate). NB. I have compile my own DSDT for this laptop in order to get sound working. [Bug 127375] Ubuntu desktop does not gain focus when all windows close
Public bug reported: Hi If I close all of my windows on the workspace, I notice that the desktop does not gain focus. So if I try to access anything via the keyboard, e.g. Alt-F1 for the menu or similar, then it only works if I have physically clicked onto the desktop. This is a bit annoying as it means you cannot have a completely mouse- free experience. ;) I am using Feisty Fawn, with metacity most of the time. [Bug 103287] Re: Sometimes animates Rhythmbox minimizing to notification area icon when it's still visible on the window list
I can second this.. Basically if you maximize or minimize Rhythmbox using the notification area it goes correctly to the notification area. But if you use the minimize button on the title bar it stays on the panel.. [Bug 125264] Sound broken after resume of Suspend - Toshiba P100
Public bug reported: Hi, Ubuntu Feisty Fawn Toshiba P100-429 Bios updated to 3.30 DSDT manually fixed and applied to get sound working After suspending to ram and resuming (which seems to work wonderfully works), the sound no longer works. In fact there are no sound cards even detected. However, if I reboot then everything works as expected.
