[Bug 606427] Re: No GUI touchpad preferences in Ubuntu 10.04 on Asus Eee PC 1015P

2010-08-15 Thread rokssolana
mikelococo, you're quite right. This bug seems to be a duplicate of
#550625, though the Alps model may be different. I'll sign as affected
there and hope the bug is fixed soon. Thanks.

[Bug 617158] Re: No sound card after kernel 2.6.32-24 update

2010-08-15 Thread rokssolana
Oh, I beg pardon, but I tried gathering information as you suggested
after I had fixed the bug in a way described in the bug report itself
(by running the script mentioned there). I just hadn't thought to gather
my system info before I fixed the bug. I have no problems with sound any
longer, but the bug remains, and I thought the system info would help to
find out why it happened in the first place, and whether it occurs only
with particular hardware, such as my Asus Eee PC 1015P.

[Bug 617158] Re: No sound card after kernel 2.6.32-24 update

2010-08-13 Thread rokssolana
apport information

** Tags added: apport-collected

** Description changed:

Basically, the whole bug is described in the summary. After I upgraded the
kernel and kernel headers to 2.6.32-24, I heard no sound out of both my netbook
(Asus Eee PC 1015P) speakers and headphones. aplay -l gave the message about
'no soundcards found'. I already had this problem after I just installed Ubuntu
10.04 Netbook Remix on the netbook, so I fixed it as before by running this
script: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1046137
The problem is gone, but as this was the second time ALSA refused to
recognize my sound card, I'm afraid that the problem is going to reoccur and
that I'm not the only person suffering from the bug.
I believe it's the developers who are the only people to fix the problem by
fixing the next kernel version's sound driver options, so that I don't have to
reinstall ALSA once more.

[Bug 617158] Re: No sound card after kernel 2.6.32-24 update

2010-08-13 Thread rokssolana
Thanks for the advice, I'm just not experienced at reporting bugs (though,
unfortunately, I had to become experienced in fixing or working them around).
Actually, I think the bug depends on my hardware, that is Asus Eee PC 1015p. I
know for sure that Ubuntu Netbook Remix perfectly ran straight out of the box
on older Eee PC models, while I had to manually fix every single piece of
hardware, including sound. The 1015p is a new model, and Ubuntu seems to be
unprepared to run on it.

[Bug 581566] Re: udevd inotify_add_watch no such directory error for physical volumes

2010-08-12 Thread rokssolana
I had the same issue, and the solution suggested by tuxfrank worked for me,
too. But I agree with Sic Volo and Brett Slahlman -- the bug remains, we just
covered it for a while by a workaround.
Besides, after this bug appeared, my mother filesystem started acting weird,
announcing severe errors and suddenly becoming a read-only file system until a
reboot. I'm not sure if these issues are connected in any way, but they really
seem to be.

[Bug 608001] [NEW] Tomboy-Blogposter gives a BadRequest error on multiple blogs

2010-07-20 Thread rokssolana
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: tomboy-blogposter

Tomboy Notes in Ubuntu Lucid Lynx Netbook Remix.
Tomboy-Blogposter plugin, which was installed from .deb downloaded at
launchpad.net, keeps giving an error The server returned error BadRequest: Bad
Request when I try to do 'Use tools on this note - Post note to your blog'.
After I press Ok, the plugin presents the multiple-blogs window, and after I
choose the blog, it works as normal and does really post the note.
My two blogs are at livejournal.com and at blogger.com. I checked the passwords
(which are said to be optional, and I'm not sure this is good, because anyone
can post at anyone other's blog that way), and they are correct for both blogs.
If I remove the passwords, the plugin requests autentification for livejoural,
and after I log in, it gives the quoted error again.
The bug doesn't really affect anything, the plugin does its job, this is just a
little annoying.

[Bug 606425] [NEW] No GUI touchpad preferences in Ubuntu 10.04 on Asus Eee PC 1015P

2010-07-16 Thread rokssolana
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: light-themes

I'm running Ubuntu 10.04 Netbook Remix on Asus Eee PC 1015P.
The problem is that there is no way of configuring my touchpad under GUI.
First, there is no Touchpad tab in System - Preferences - Mouse.
I installed GSynaptics, but every time I try to run it, it gives the You have
to set 'SHMConfig' 'true' in xorg.conf. The point is that there is no default
xorg.conf file in 10.04. I tried to make one with Xorg -configure; it had no
'Synaptics Touchpad' entry; I created one, and I did set the 'SHMConfig' option
to 'true', but it didn't do anything. Obviously, Xorg simply pays no attention
to xorg.conf file any longer. Then, I tried to use the new way of configuring
Xorg with HAL .fdi files. I created an /etc/hal/fdi/policy11-X11-synaptics.fdi
file and wrote
?xml version=1.0 encoding=ISO-8859-1?
deviceinfo version=0.2
 device
   match key=info.capabilities contains=input.touchpad
   merge key=input.x11_driver type=stringsynaptics/merge
   merge key=input.x11_options.SHMConfig type=stringOn/merge
   /match
 /device
/deviceinfo
in it. This did nothing, GSynaptics still gives the error.
The touchpad itself works fine, two-finger scrolling and three-finger
right-click work, too. It is likely that Synaptics and Xorg recognize my
touchpad and manage it, but there are no graphical preferences.
To summarize, there are two main bug issues:
1. No 'Touchpad' tab in System - Preferences - Mouse.
2. No way to enable SHMConfig to get other GUI touchpad preferences apps
running.

Thank you for your attention.
