2018-03-25 Thread Vaibhav
I do see gnome and X installed on this system and /etc/os-release does
not indicate much as to whether its a server/desktop install:

Sleep inactive is indeed set to 20 mins:
$ gsettings get org.gnome.settings-daemon.plugins.power
sleep-inactive-ac-timeout
1200

But should user inactivity timer kinckin and invoke systemd-
suspend.service even if there is an active terminal session for the root
user ?

2018-03-25 Thread vaibhav singh
you can solve it by these two methods.
sudo dpkg -P unity-scope-gdrive account-plugin-google account-plugin-facebook

and

sudo apt -f install

its occurring due to overwrite problem since it cant do it by default
either use the above code in terminal or find the root package causing
it and force overwrite it.

Find it by this code below.

sudo find /var/cache -name "kde-config-telepathy-accounts*"
then,
sudo dpkg -i --force-overwrite "write the location of package without quotes."

And
 sudo apt-get -f install

[Bug 1737111] [NEW] Upgrade tool not working

2017-12-08 Thread vaibhav
Public bug reported:

I unable to upgrade from Ubuntu 14.10 to 16.04.

Invalid package information

After updating your package information, the essential package
'ubuntu-minimal' could not be located. This may be because you have
no official mirrors listed in your software sources, or because of
excessive load on the mirror you are using. See /etc/apt/sources.list
for the current list of configured software sources.
In the case of an overloaded mirror, you may want to try the upgrade
again later.

[Bug 1636467] Re: Ubuntu 16.10: lsscsi shows wrong wwn

2017-07-10 Thread Vaibhav
Hi paelzer,

I have already responded to you on the corresponding Github issue
(https://goo.gl/kxcRwY). Summarizing my response here for the
convenience of others:

- Already tried multiple times to catch lsscsi maintainer Doug Gilbert
dgilb...@interlog.com regarding this patch with no success.
- The github repository is just and mirror for a private svn repo hence only
way to push patches is via email.
- I have already sent an updated patch to the linux-scsi mailing list at
http://marc.info/?l=linux-scsi=148975219308242
- Helpfully redhat has verified the patch and accepted it as an out of tree
patch.

The Debian bug report you mentioned looks different from what this patch
tries to fix hence probably needs a new bug to be reported to Debian.

[Bug 548992] Re: Wireless connection frequently drops [deauthenticating by local choice (reason=3)]

2011-06-18 Thread वैभव Vaibhav
This bug also affects me (reason=3 in syslog), and I can confirm that
switching form DHCP to manual IP assignment (on the same
router/network!) prevents disconnection. However the following still
happens:

If I disconnect in software for some other reason (mostly when I lot
out or log in back, or sometimes when I need to switch off the wifi-
router for some reason), I need to manually switch off the wireless (I
usually use the hardware switch on my sony vaio) before I can connect
back. Otherwise network manager icon just keeps suggesting that it is
connecting, and it never gets form (that is, I keep see that rotating
icon, but never gets to the signal icon).

PS: I am using Natty. Do I have to file a separate bug report or this
one does the job?

   * Unofficial software packages not provided by Ubuntu

[Bug 659712] [NEW] New device name enumerated after suspend/resume cycle

2010-10-13 Thread Vaibhav
Public bug reported:

On Thinkpad T61, the touchpad and trackpoint are enumerated using the
i8042 driver to be serio devices. In 2.6.32 series kernel from Lucid,
the trackpoint was always enumerated as serio2 after a resume and its
sysfs entry remained under /sys/devices/platform/i8042/serio1/serio2/.

With Maverick 2.6.35 kernel, after a resume a new device entry is
created and older lost. So from serio1/serio2, it changes to
serio1/serio3 after a resume, then to serio1/serio4 and so on. I set
parameters using sysfs.conf for trackpoint sensitivity/speed and those
are lost since a new device entry is created.

 Actually, the command should be:

 apport-collect -p alsa-base 644912

Please run the above command, as this will give even more info about
 your hardware.

I also suggest you delete any .asoundrc files in your home directory, as
that is preventing audio from working properly.

[Bug 640982] [NEW] [Realtek ALC259] Recording problem - Can hear a lot of noise, no recording

2010-09-16 Thread Vaibhav Shankar
Public bug reported:

My in-built mic was working fine till yesterday, not sure if some of the
new updates caused a crash of some sort. I can now hear a lot of noise
when I try to record (I tried with the default sound recorder and
skype). I checked alsamixer to ensure the mic isn't muted.

Thanks

[Bug 459647] Re: Cannot change mouse cursor theme when compiz is enabled

2010-09-04 Thread Vaibhav
#110 works for me too. I have the latest released lucid packages and am not on
patched compiz. I don't see the problems regarding partial cursor theme display.
Also, I tried to remove the x-cursor-theme config item but compiz used a
fallback theme and still did not honor the selected cursor theme. It is weird
to have to use superuser permissions to change the user cursor theme.

[Bug 614687] [NEW] gnome-terminal crashes with Segmentation fault in _IO_file_doallocate

2010-08-07 Thread Vaibhav
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-terminal

I was trying to update my cursor theme in compiz and updated the x

since then, I am getting these crashes in mostly GNOME applications. It
is easier to reproduce the crash with the gnome-terminal package.

[Bug 614687] Re: gnome-terminal crashes with Segmentation fault in _IO_file_doallocate

2010-08-07 Thread Vaibhav
I was retracing my steps with all the changes and I found that I had put the
following line in my index.theme for my MyCursorTheme. This was probably
causing the function loading icons to go in a weird recursive call and crash
the application.
Inherits=MyCursorTheme

[Bug 590437] [NEW] Disk utility incorrectly displays the volumes chart for ufs2

2010-06-06 Thread Vaibhav Gavane
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-disk-utility

The following is the output of sfdisk -d /dev/sda for my 160 GB SATA
hard disk:

# partition table of /dev/sda
unit: sectors

/dev/sda1 : start= 63, size=64197, Id=de
/dev/sda2 : start=64260, size=134223075, Id= 7, bootable
/dev/sda3 : start=178274302, size=134223874, Id= 5
/dev/sda4 : start=134287335, size= 43985529, Id=a5
/dev/sda5 : start=178274304, size=128661504, Id=83
/dev/sda6 : start=306937856, size= 5560320, Id=82
/dev/sda7 : start=134287335, size= 1048576
/dev/sda8 : start=135335911, size= 4139008
/dev/sda9 : start=139474919, size= 1048576
/dev/sda10: start=140523495, size= 37749369

/dev/sda4 is the ufs2 partition where FreeBSD is installed. In FreeBSD,
/dev/sda4 is the /dev/ad4s4 slice, and /dev/sda[78910] are the
/dev/ad4s4[adef] partitions.

/dev/sda3 is the extended partition that contains the /dev/sda[56]
partitions.

As can be seen in the attached screenshot, the FreeBSD partitions are
incorrectly shown contained in /dev/sda3, instead of /dev/sda4.

[Bug 533135] Re: System fails to boot with plymouth installed (nouveau driver with 1 display)

2010-04-07 Thread Vaibhav
I am also facing this issue. Thinkpad W700 with NVidia FX3700M. The boot
on the laptop with LVDS LCD screen is fine. Boot with laptop attached to
a dock with 2 monitors (VGA and DVI-D) hangs with plymouth running. I
can work around the issue by booting in recovery mode or without
splash parameter in boot arguments. Running NOUVEAU driver for the
card. It looks like from the Xorg.log, the hang is in NVEnterVT call rom
NOUVEAU after it initializes XvMC extension.

[Bug 463975] Re: evolution crashed with SIGSEGV in convert_string_talloc_convenience()

2009-11-02 Thread Vaibhav
I want to add alongwith this valgrind log that when I invoke evolution from
command line, it does not cause this bug. It cannot even log into the server
for some reason.
I used the same program path and arguments to start it but it does not
reproduce the exact behavior.

[Bug 355155] Re: Clocksource tsc unstable leads to lockups in Ubuntu Jaunty

2009-09-02 Thread Prashant Vaibhav
Would anyone of you happen to know how to restrict the lowest C-state of
the processor? I ran into a similar problem on freebsd, where the lapic
uses ticks on c-states lower than C1, causing temporary or permanent
hard-freezes. Setting the lowest c-state to C1 fixed the problem. Under
freebsd you set a sysctl (hw.acpi.cpi.cx_lowest=C1).

I'm not sure how this is done on Linux, but if someone does, please try
to set the lowest C-state to C1 and see if that helps.
