[Bug 1807511] Re: AMDGPU Radeon RX540 system freezes poor performance

2018-12-15 Thread whoop

[Bug 1305335] Re: Cutting or copying files on btrfs to ecryptfs results in data loss

2015-06-26 Thread whoop
Seems to be working now on my arch machine.. Great work!!!

It noticed something though:
When I move a (large) file to ecryptfs folder this now seems to happen
instantly. As I remember it (on ext4 machines) moving files would take a while
and show a progress bar, like you see when moving to another partition.
I don't think files are being moved unencrypted but still I wonder, is there an
explanation for this?

[Bug 1305335] Re: Cutting or copying files on btrfs to ecryptfs results in data loss

2015-02-20 Thread whoop
I still have a running system with this issue.
It is not an ubuntu box but Arch 64. This is a fresh install.

I stole the disk layout from the ubuntu documentation for this system:
one btrfs partition with @ subvolume for / and @home subvolume for /home.
The system also uses a vfat ESP as it is an UEFI install.
Default kernel: currently 3.18.6-1-ARCH

I installed ecryptfs-utils (ecryptfs-utils 104-1) from the arch repo and did
the following as configuration:
https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/ECryptfs#Without_ecryptfs-utils

The described setup above is currently working on an ext4 arch 64 bit
system but not on btrfs system...

A copy or move with nautilus to Private folder results in file(s) with 0 bytes
(on all file formats I have tested).
A cp or mv to Private folder results in proper amount of bytes but something is
also wrong as
thumbnails for jpg are not showing in Private folder with nautilus although
thumbnails are enabled. So maybe header is getting corrupted or something.
I also tested avi and tga but these did give me thumbnails. I have not tested
other file formats at this time.

[Bug 943638] Re: upgrade lucid to precise has missing candidates

2012-03-16 Thread whoop
You are running lucid but have precise sources for some reason
Possibly/probably because the do-release-upgrade -d fails and does not
complete... I think this is caused by an ldap upgrade failure:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/openldap/+bug/943664
I'm not sure what the relation is with this issue and the missing candidates
issue

Maybe this is caused by the do-release-upgrade failing (a.k.a. we are
testing on a broken system)? I could retest this from the begining (as I
am using an image of the actual server) if you tell me what alterations
I need to do before the do-release-upgrade -d.

[Bug 943638] Re: upgrade lucid to precise has missing candidates

2012-03-13 Thread whoop
The release-upgrade does not go well. Isn't it better to try to do a
release upgrade from the image before any update to precise? I have the
idea that it got borked as I let the upgrade continue with these missing
candidates.

[Bug 943638] Re: upgrade lucid to precise has missing candidates

2012-03-13 Thread whoop
Hhmm, I run into trouble... I start with a clean 10.04 server. when I
run do-release-upgrade -d I get the missing candidate warnings so I
cancel... I then run the commands you provided:

sudo rm /etc/apt/sources.list.d/prerequists-sources.list
sudo rm
/var/lib/apt/lists/archive.ubuntu.com_ubuntu_dists_precise-updates_main_binary-amd64_Packages

I then run do-release-upgrade -d again but I still get the missing
candidates warnings...

Do you want to start the upgrade?

3 installed packages are no longer supported by Canonical. You can
still get support from the community.

8 packages are going to be removed. 189 new packages are going to be
installed. 572 packages are going to be upgraded.

You have to download a total of 319 M. This download will take about
4 minutes with your connection.

Installing the upgrade can take several hours. Once the download has
finished, the process cannot be canceled.

I'm having this in precise as well. Why is it's importance low? I can
imagine a lot of people not knowing other shortcuts to bypass this bug.

I cannot logout or shutdown also because of the missing top panel.

[Bug 943527] Re: hp deskjet 920c dissapeared, cannot add

2012-03-01 Thread whoop
Wait a minute... The commands you provided seems to have added a printer, which
is detectible by other machines on the network...
I don't understand why the existing printer I had disapeared or how I am not
able to add the printer via the gui webapplication.
But I am now able to print from other machines...

Thanks...

[Bug 943527] Re: hp deskjet 920c dissapeared, cannot add

2012-03-01 Thread whoop
So you are telling me the printer never went missing? I thought a queue was
just that someone ordered the printer to print something.
The problem was that all of a sudden not a single machine on the network could
find the printer anymore. You'r command added a printer named dj920 not a queue
if I am not mistaken...

In any case... I was not able to do this via the web interface... I used
w3m via ssh to the server itself to use http://localhost:631, I was able
to enter the Administration tab, there I tried Add Printer and Find New
Printers but I do not understand why this does/did not work. It must
have worked before because I installed it myself two years ago and it
had work up till a few weeks ago, when the printer or queue suddenly
disapeared...

I am not even sure if this is a real bug now, other than the fact that I
cannot recreate the commands you provided via the web interface...

I don't believe there is any sensitive information in /var/log/syslog
but I marked the bug as private in case I overlooked something. Feel
free to mark as public if there is indeed no sensitive information.
