[Bug 1684279] [NEW] /dev/dri/card0 missing

2017-04-19 Thread Wizard
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu 14.04.5 with kernel 3.19.0-80 working fine, but when kernels 4.4+
installed /dev/dri/card0 went missing. It was from 4.4.0-59 till
4.4.0-74. In old bugs I've found the same issue, but there was "card0"
in the "/dev". I don't have one. Software rendering is not good at all.

I don't know if something changed in the repositories or someone fixed
it but all I did was to open synaptic, click on repair packages (which
added libqtcore4:i386 for installation), then I found and marked
libqtcore4 for reinstallation and it seems to have fixed the problem for
me.

[Bug 630024] Re: Clicks don't work suddenly after a random time

2010-10-10 Thread Wizard
I can confirm the bug, but i doubt it is an xorg issue. I am using a Microsoft
Wired Keyboard 600 and pressing on the volume up/down special-key, the
play-key or the calculator-key causes some kind of grabbing, so the left
mouse button stops working. Unpluging the keyboard and repluging it again gets
the mouse back to work again. Some other people seem to have observed the
problem to:
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1585426
There the same behaviour is also described for a Microsoft Digital Multimedia
Keyboard 3000 when hitting F2 .

[Bug 177680] leaking pixmaps

2007-12-20 Thread Wizard
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xorg

I first noticed this in Firefox. I thought it was related to
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/firefox/+bug/137764 but it appears to
be more than that.
When I open a page containing large numbers of images, memory does balloon, as
described. However, when I close that tab, not all memory is returned: about
1-2 megs remains. Opening, browsing, and closing dozens of tabs can quickly
lose hundreds of megs. Even if I return to a single empty tab, this apparently
leaked memory is never returned.
This does not just happen in Firefox, but in fact in anything that caches
pixmap data apparently. I also tried in web browsers Epiphany and Opera, but
noticed the same behaviour in Nautilus when looking at directories with a large
number of images or videos that get thumbnails.
I have an ATI Radeon 9000 card, and a colleague mentioned he'd had memory leak
problems with the ATI driver when he had a Radeon 9800. This may be related.
Hopefully I've provided enough information

yes, it is, which is why I hesitated to label this with xorg, but with
the apparent widespread nature of what I'm seeing, I didn't know where
else to put it.

[Bug 36958] Re: No touch-and-drag with Synaptics pad

2006-06-17 Thread wizard
The same here, although on Slackware 10.2.
The stock 2.6.13 kernel from the slackware instalation
disks was working perfectly.
The touchpad was detected as ImPS/2, and the touch-and-drag.
was working ok.
A new compile of 2.6.16.20 broke the things.
The new kernel detected the touchpad as SynPS/2 and
the touch-and-drag was not functional.
After compiling the ps2 mouse support as module
(CONFIG_MOUSE_PS2=m) everything was ok.
I do not know why the thing was not working when
compiled into the kernel.
