Ok what does this mean? Ive thought my problem is solved with upgrading
ram. Im having same issue. What does mean that original incarnation of
this bug will be avoided using semaphores? We are waiting for fix for
this bug almost one year. Its serious bug as whole computer freezes and
you cannot recover lost data anymore. Ive always thought that linux is
something stable and reliable and that community has interest of fixing
bugs especially if behind of that is some company which is in this case
called Canonical. After 4 years of using Ubuntu im slowly giving up. My
life is too short for waiting when critical bugs are going to be fixed.
In this case is much 'cheaper' to pay for operating system. Nobody will
give me back time of my life lost in frustration with operating system
which should work in the first place.

Okay, i'm using my laptop with 6 GB of ram for some time now. No issues
at all.. my computer also never swaps now... i guess that this issue
comes only when computer starts to swap memory to the hard disk .. i
have similar problem on my desktop with totally different intel chipset
but there happens only screen corruption like some fonts are hard to
read etc and nothing else...

so i hope that with new drivers in ubuntu 12.10 this issue will be
solved.

i'm getting suspicious about this issue... i've upgraded memory on my laptop
and i feel that it works better now... i wonder how much memory do you guys
have... i think that issue always come to the surface when the system starts to
swap memory to the hard disk.
I'm gonna investigate this more in the future.

Before i've had 2gb of ram. Now i have 6gb so the system really never
swaps.

I would like to help with much as I can... but nobody is really interested
about that. I know that there are lot of bugs. But this one makes computer
unusable! Some of us are discussing it here and want to help... but we dont
know yet how many other people already swithed to Windows or other linux
distribution because of that.
My laptop always freeze at least once per day! There is no receipe for
reproduction... it happens random but for sure.

Is it possible to start somewhere that we fix this bug? Or we should
wait for the autumn that ubuntu 12.10 comes out?

At same time is happening in many cases that fonts are not readable
anymore and pictures have some glitches... for example this page for me
looks like this (attachment) ... and problem persist until computer
freeze... if i restart everything is normal again... in log files is
nothing special about this problem... but i have to admit that computer
is barely usable with this problem because you never know when it will
freeze and when fonts will get unreadable again...

what can we do about it?

Thanks

For sure I wont change my computer because of that but in the worst scenario I

[Bug 824505] Re: banshee crashes on oneiric

2011-10-14 Thread zmago
It's easy workaround to move Banshee.Bpm.dll out of folder. But if Ubuntu
wants to be user friendly then this workaround is frustrating. Yesterday i've
installed it and i had to investigate why Banshee is chrashing. Now imagine
average user... what he/she would do? Stop using Ubuntu or install some other
music player...
I know that here is not the right place to talk about that but after all this
time Ubuntu project should concentrate more on quality instead on new features.

[Bug 745836] Re: soffice.bin crashed with SIGSEGV in cppu::throwException()

2011-09-21 Thread zmago
Well.. now when libre office crashed in log file was this:

soffice.bin[9804] general protection ip:7f73a09f9c09 sp:7fffb8f5f4a0
error:0 in libuno_cppuhelpergcc3.so.3[7f73a09db000+c8000]

Is little bit different than before when most of time i saw segfault.

How did this happen? i have 3 gb of ram. At the moment 1,2 gb used ,
13,1 mb swaped. Before i was running KVM virtual machine which forced OS
to swap. In this moment i was coping one big file from one folder to
other... so disk was busy. Office crashed after 1 minute of usage.

I hope Microsoft did not inject this bug in libre office that would
force us to buy MS office :)

cheers

2011-09-17 Thread zmago
Thank you. I will try to figure out the pattern. Same problem is on my
netbook and desktop... on both i have ecryptfs turned on in user profile
where crash is happening. But on some laptop I'm not using folder
encryption so there is also no crashing. Temporary solution for me is
chaging autosave to 5 min or even less. But I will tell you more when I
will put attention to the crashing pattern. I'm not used of that
community is listening you and that you also can help in some kind of a
way :) So I will do what I can.

Cheers.

[Bug 579966] Re: OpenOffice crashes with high frequency with $HOME on encryptfs

2011-05-19 Thread zmago
** Description changed:

  Binary package hint: openoffice.org

OpenOffice will crash at least once for every two hours of use. The
chance of a crash is increased by, but NOT exclusively caused by,
memory-intensive operations such as copy-pastes or saves of large
amounts of info (ex. 10,000 lines in a spreadsheet).

After the crash, sometimes OpenOffice will work normally when you try to
  start it again.

Other times an soffice.bin process will appear in the process list and
stay there, but nothing visual will appear. Only by forcibly killing
that process and then trying AGAIN to start OpenOffice, can you get it
  to work again.

  ProblemType: Bug
  DistroRelease: Ubuntu 10.04
  Package: openoffice.org (not installed)

  EcryptfsInUse: Yes
InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 10.04 LTS Lucid Lynx - Release i386 (20100429)

[Bug 656050] Re: Only shows M-F in Workweek

2010-10-17 Thread zmago
I have same problem. In old versions of Evolution everything worked fine. I
hope that exist some solution for this soon because this bug is irritating...
I've already checked in gconf-editor for settings and settings are same as you
set them up trough user interface in Evolution but of course without any
effect...
Is not only 7 day workweek but also lenght of working day... is static.. it
wont change even if you use power of Jedi. :)

this time. I have at home also broadcom and realtek wireless card.. one
