[Bug 1001801] Re: [System Product Name, VIA VT1708S, Green Line Out, Rear] Pulseaudio fails to detect card
Thank you for reporting this bug to Ubuntu. Ubuntu 12.04 (precise) reached end-of-life on April 28, 2017. See this document for currently supported Ubuntu releases: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Releases We appreciate that this bug may be old and you might not be interested in discussing it any more. But if you are then please upgrade to the latest Ubuntu version and re-test. ** Changed in: pulseaudio (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1001801 Title: [System Product Name, VIA VT1708S, Green Line Out, Rear] Pulseaudio fails to detect card To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/pulseaudio/+bug/1001801/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1001801] Re: [System Product Name, VIA VT1708S, Green Line Out, Rear] Pulseaudio fails to detect card
I would also like to add that I switched in my BIOS from using Intel HDAudio to using AC97. No difference in behavior whatsoever. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1001801 Title: [System Product Name, VIA VT1708S, Green Line Out, Rear] Pulseaudio fails to detect card To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/pulseaudio/+bug/1001801/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1001801] Re: [System Product Name, VIA VT1708S, Green Line Out, Rear] Pulseaudio fails to detect card
It doesn't. The above does not actually affect whether Pulseaudio works correctly on next bootup or not. Also, I'm afraid to reboot for kernel updates because I've been having to reboot 5 to 10 times just to get sound working again. I'd normally just say forget it, but it also makes TTYs spam this error over and over non-stop: [18009.716205] 3:3:4: cannot set freq 48000 to ep 0x86 With the first two (inside the brackets, separated by the decimal point; might be one number?) varying each time. It also makes a very long pause at the login sequence (where it ACTUALLY PLAYS the little 'drums' sound after the long pause) in which nothing is clickable and the whole UI freezes. Note that while the 'drums' play eventually, no other sound EVER works. This long pause carries in with Firefox and other programs starting. If a program tries to access Pulseaudio at all, it will freeze up the ENTIRE user interface (and spam the TTYs) until it stops doing whatever it is it's trying to do. This makes the system nearly unusable. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1001801 Title: [System Product Name, VIA VT1708S, Green Line Out, Rear] Pulseaudio fails to detect card To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/pulseaudio/+bug/1001801/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1001801] Re: [System Product Name, VIA VT1708S, Green Line Out, Rear] Pulseaudio fails to detect card
Ok, I rebooted several times and sound refused to work. So I ran: sudo rm -r ~username/.pulse* #to delete the .pulse-cookie file, as well as the folder .pulse/ sudo rm -r /tmp/pulse-* #to delete all those weird numbered pulseaudio folders in /tmp/. And rebooted. That made it work on the next boot. I don't know if this helps or not. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1001801 Title: [System Product Name, VIA VT1708S, Green Line Out, Rear] Pulseaudio fails to detect card To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/pulseaudio/+bug/1001801/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1001801] Re: [System Product Name, VIA VT1708S, Green Line Out, Rear] Pulseaudio fails to detect card
Doing that now (rebooted to get sound to stop working). pulseaudio -k does not work, and on top of that, I've pressed Ctrl+C to stop pulseaudio (as described on that page), and it takes a very long time to stop pulseaudio. I was about to type that it doesn't, but it just... Took way too long. When sound does not work, does this command restore it?: pulseaudio -k If not, please make a verbose pulseaudio log: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/PulseAudio/Log -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1001801 Title: [System Product Name, VIA VT1708S, Green Line Out, Rear] Pulseaudio fails to detect card To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/pulseaudio/+bug/1001801/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
