since this bug states, that the current auctex doesn't work, ACK #1 from me. Side note: I've seen some IFS=... in the generated configure. Now I'm not entirely sure, if configure will use dash, and if these generated bits come from a local included m4. I've made an 11.84 package that has this patch. I tried uploading it to the ubuntu-elisp ppa, but was unsuccessful due to not yet being a member of the launchpad-beta-testers team. I've applied for the group and am awaiting approval. Michael, if you have time, you can still prepare a new package with this patch, upload it to the ubuntu-elisp ppa and ask for testing.
