[Bug 105582] Re: sound inaudible for certain ASUS laptops using AD1986* HDA codec(s)
im having the same problem in my Asus A8JP. sometimes the sound comes on, i can tell because i can hear the fuzz, and the volume of the fuzz changes as i change the volume. however, as soon as i start playing something through rhythmbox or xmms and try and adjust the volune, it mutes itself. sometimes i can get the volume back by changing the volume of the 'headphone' and 'PCM' channel, one after the other, till i hear the fuzz again. also, i tried to install the fixes but got an 'name or service not known' error hope this helps -- sound inaudible for certain ASUS laptops using AD1986* HDA codec(s) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/105582 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 105582] Re: sound inaudible for certain ASUS laptops using AD1986* HDA codec(s)
I'm confused. Is this problem supposed to be fixed? The status field says Fix Committed, but in 2.6.20-15.27, I still don't get sound. Is a new build coming? Also, if it has not been committed, does the freeze preclude backing out patches that caused this degree of regression? I noticed that multiple sound-related tests are listed on the test plan at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/Long -- sound inaudible for certain ASUS laptops using AD1986* HDA codec(s) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/105582 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 105582] Re: sound inaudible for certain ASUS laptops using AD1986* HDA codec(s)
It's already fixed. Kernel freeze went into effect last week, so barring any /critical/ bugs (e.g., machine not booting due to SATA controller being driven improperly), feisty will release in a timely fashion. This means these lesser bugs will be addressed in a post-release (feisty- updates) kernel upload. Fix committed means that I've pushed the fix to Ben, and it's in his possession. Fix released means the fix is available in a publicly-accessible fashion from the Ubuntu repositories. -- sound inaudible for certain ASUS laptops using AD1986* HDA codec(s) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/105582 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
