*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 106063 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/106063 Dermitrius, I've taken a closer look at the logs from the initrd, and I get the same thing (errno=-19 from lib ata); our issue appears to be addressed in #106063. [Bug 106011] Re: initrd: mount of root fails, hda becomes sda (2.6.20-13 to -14)
this may not be applicable, but after update to linux-image 2.6.20-14-23, upon boot. lib-ata or sata-via is reporting a revalidation error (error 19) on the detected detect drive (only one connected), and as that drive is the root drive is not being found and thus system will not continue to boot. last valid boot was with 2.6.20-14.22-generic @ 13/april/2007 (BST) not attaching dmesg as it dows not indicate saiud error (ie all sata stuff clean) and has nothing to do with 2.6.20-12.23 system specs: kubuntu 7.04 beta 2.6.20-14-23 abit kw7 (kt880) 1x WDC WDC740ADFD-00NLR1 74gb 1x excelstor 82gb (hda) 1x WDC WD400EB-00CPF0 40 gb )hdb) -- initrd: mount of root fails, hda becomes sda (2.6.20-13 to -14) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/106011 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 106011] Re: initrd: mount of root fails, hda becomes sda (2.6.20-13 to -14)
(New to Ubuntu and Linux in general) Feisty install here... I'm experiencing what I think is a similar problem. After upgrading to 2.6.20-14-generic pkgs 2.6.20-14.23 from a previous 2.6.20-14 package (I don't know what the previous version was, if someone can let me know how to get it, I can) the system became unbootable (nothing interesting booting the normal kernel, some debug messages but nothing that stuck out to me in the "safe mode" kernel). Switching grub to boot from the previous initrd fixed things. cksums on each initrd: 1996184709 6946350 initrd.img-2.6.20-14-generic 1473675325 6946125 initrd.img-2.6.20-14-generic.bak .bak is working, the other is not. My root volume is /dev/sda3. If there's any additional info I could provide, please let me know. Also, if this isn't related to the above, let me know and I'll file a separate bug. Thanks! -- initrd: mount of root fails, hda becomes sda (2.6.20-13 to -14) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/106011 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
