[Bug 107087] Re: Unreliable access to Vista shared (SMB) drives
I'm closing this bug for samba as it seems related to nautilus and gnome-vfs2. Using the command line or the cifs module works according to the report. ** Changed in: samba (Ubuntu) Status: New = Invalid -- Unreliable access to Vista shared (SMB) drives https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/107087 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 107087] Re: Unreliable access to Vista shared (SMB) drives
I don't think this is a Samba bug. I experience the same symptoms. In addition, folders in shares will often change to text icons after I open them (or try to open them). Some folders in shares are sometimes not listed, but show up again after a refresh. It does not make a difference if I mount the shares or not. I also use 7.04, trying to access Vista shares. If you use Samba from the terminal, everything works fine (and much quicker). Folders always open, and they are never missing. This appears to be a Nautilus bug. I upgraded libgnomevfs2 and samba to the current Gutsy main with no improvement. My current workaround is to mount the shares using CIFS. This gives good results, but is a poor replacement for the ability to browse the network or use Nautilus as intended. ** Also affects: nautilus (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Unreliable access to Vista shared (SMB) drives https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/107087 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
Re: [Bug 107087] Re: Unreliable access to Vista shared (SMB) drives
How do I do that? I am just clicking Connect to Network drive, selecting Windows SMB, and putting in the server name and share name. I had to set up the thing manually in the fstab file. On 5/2/07, scottb1062 [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: How do I do that? [Bug 107087] Re: Unreliable access to Vista shared (SMB) drives
I suspect that this could be due to Microsoft changing the SMB protocol enough that vista samba won't talk properly. Due to this, there is improved vista support coming in samba 3.0.25, but that will not make it into feisty. -- Unreliable access to Vista shared (SMB) drives https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/107087 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
