That's a question which would fit well on the ubuntu-translators mailing
list. Some other translator might be able to explain how it could be
accomplished.

Groovy no longer uses gfxboot. So this package update is not possible to
test with groovy Isos anymore.

[Bug 1171844] Re: Ubiquity: Tajik Language Support

2020-08-04 Thread Victor Ibragimov
Gunnar,

Good, in this case, if it takes a user to the Ubiquity's Welcome window,
then it is OK, Tajik language should be there.

By the way, could someone please, let me know if there is a way to
install Ubiquity's Welcome window (Ubuntu Installer) from the
development branch (the latest version), launch it on a working system
from Desktop (terminal) and test it to see all the Tajik translations,
and improve them by making translations to read as if they originally
were created in Tajik language. In most cases a live reference is needed
to make perfect translations.

Have a great day!
Victor

2020-08-04 Thread Gunnar Hjalmarsson
Victor,

https://launchpadlibrarian.net/491841126/Ubuntu%2020.10%20%28Groovy%20Gorilla%29%20Daily%20Build.PNG

That's grub, and selecting "Ubuntu" there should take you to Ubiquity's
welcome window (i.e. when it works):

https://ubuntu.com/tutorials/install-ubuntu-desktop#3-boot-from-dvd

To the left of that window there is another list of languages, where
Tajik is included. Please see Steve's comment which I linked to in my
previous comment on this bug report. I suspect it's related.

Being able to "Try Ubuntu" in your native language easily is quite a different
topic. Currently that's possible only for the most used languages among Ubuntu
users, i.e. the ISO includes language packs only for those languages. For the
bulk of languages (including Tajik), and even if you select it at the welcome
window and "Try Ubuntu", most of the menus and windows will be in English.

Brian posted this message on the topic a while ago:

https://lists.ubuntu.com/archives/ubuntu-devel/2020-March/040942.html

Don't know if any progress has been made since.

[Bug 1171844] Re: Ubiquity: Tajik Language Support

2020-08-04 Thread Victor Ibragimov
Hi,

It looks like that now there is no language menu in the bootloader for
the current daily build of Ubuntu 20.10 (Groovy Gorilla) Daily Build at
http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/. Also the Installer could
not be launched to check Tajik language.

I suggest there should be a language menu in the bootloader, so users
could select on what they want to do with the Ubuntu - to try or to
install it - in their native language.

For the current build without a language menu it takes a user to load a
Live Ubuntu in English, have some third-party translated instruction on
how to change language into their native language and so on.

Please, check if the menu could be returned.

Thank you for prompt reply,
Victor ibragimov

2020-08-03 Thread Victor Ibragimov
Hi,

The last time I tested Ubuntu daily build for this bug I got a black
blank screen and I am not sure if that was one of the daily build ISO
image or my laptop behavior.

Please, advise if the current daily build of Ubuntu 20.10 (Groovy
Gorilla) is OK to test, so I download the image again and perform the
full test for Tajik Language and send a detailed report:
http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/

---
By the way, for the current Ubuntu 20.04 LTS (Focal Fossa) there are encoding
issues for Tajik Language and some text still have untranslated texts, but
looks like i have translated them all 100%.
This is just to make sure that Ubuntu 20.10 (Groovy Gorilla) have those all
those translated strings applied. Well, new test will show it.

Hi,

It is just like a magic! Tajik (Тоҷикӣ) is now listed among the other
languages to start Ubuntu installation or trial from the very first
screen when you insert a CD/DVD or use an ISO image.

However, it seems to be there is an error with encoding to correctly
show all Tajik characters. In the name of language "Тоҷикӣ" some
characters are missing: ҷ and ӣ making it to display as Тоик. It should
be displayed correctly as "Тоҷикӣ". A screen capture attached for your
reference to see the issue.

Could you please, include UTF-8 encoding to support the display of all
Tajik characters.

amd64/current/images/cdrom/debian-cd_info.tar.gz which is the source of
the translated menus presented from the isolinux bootloader. This would
need to be included there for sure in order to have localized menus in
the bootloader, but I also haven't tracked down yet where the list of
languages comes from since it doesn't appear to be in either the debian-
installer cd tarball, the debian-cd repository, or the syslinux source.

[Bug 1171844] Re: Ubiquity: Tajik Language Support

2020-03-05 Thread Victor Ibragimov
Hi,
Tajik is in Ubuntu from the beginning!
However, for some reasons the language name Тоҷикӣ is not listed on the very
start screen of the install process, or when you press F2 after you insert the
installation CD or start to install Ubuntu from any other media.

I will check if Тоҷикӣ is now listed on 20.04 version on the very start
screen of the install process by pressing the F2 key

[Bug 1171844] Re: Ubiquity: Tajik Language Support

2020-03-05 Thread Gunnar Hjalmarsson
@Victor: It has been selectable there for quite some time. But since the
tg language packs are not present on the ISO, the "Try Ubuntu" option is
not sufficient to test translations. The best way to do that is to
actually install the current development version of Ubuntu and use Tajik
as the display language.

2020-03-05 Thread Victor Ibragimov
Hi,

Thank you so much for adding Tajik language (Тоҷикӣ) to the languagelist file
in localechooser!
Please, let me know if now it is available on a daily build iso, so I can test
and improve Tajik translations if needed.

Thank you for prompt reply and have a great day!
Victor

[Bug 1171844] Re: Ubiquity: Tajik Language Support

2014-01-05 Thread Victor Ibragimov
To whom it may concern,

Hi, Tajik translations for the Debian Installer are now 100% complete
and currently supported to keep the translations updated! Statistics for
Tajik ubuntu translations also looks nice, the other translations are
ongoing directly on the upstreams. I just would like to remind you about
this bug to add Tajik into the CD boot screen and/or ubiquity installer,
so we have more Tajik for the next release.

Thank you in advance!

[Bug 1171844] Re: Ubiquity: Tajik Language Support

2013-07-29 Thread Dmitrijs Ledkovs
Indeed translations for Tajik language are very good so far.
It would be great to contribute Tajik translations into Debian as well:
http://d-i.debian.org/l10n-stats/ - For the installer
http://www.debian.org/international/l10n/po/tg - For other translations

I will ping people around who have done new language enablement in the
installer before.
