[Bug 1207716] Re: wine 1.6 cannot be installed, needs updated to gphoto2-6
A better method of handling broken dependencies like this is to use the equivs package. Unfortunately, equivs hasn't been updated to support multiarch yet. If you're comfortable applying the patch from Debian bug 692934 to the equivs-build program, you can fake out the dependencies with the .deb built from the following equivs control file: Section: misc Priority: optional Standards-Version: 3.9.2 Package: libgphoto2-port0 Version: 2.5.2-0ubuntu2~equivs Pre-Depends: multiarch-support Architecture: all Multi-Arch: foreign Description: transitional dummy package for bad dependency in Wine PPA Remove me ASAP! -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1207716 Title: wine 1.6 cannot be installed, needs updated to gphoto2-6 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/wine/+bug/1207716/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

As well, on another machine I had to remove the dependency in the two lists on libgphoto2-2.
[Bug 1207716] Re: wine 1.6 cannot be installed, needs updated to gphoto2-6
Thanks Nicolás! Your comment #5 (https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/wine/+bug/1207716/comments/5) worked. I did have to modify all 3 files. Plus, in the /var/lib/dpkg/status file I had to remove in the dependency on libgphoto2-port0 under wine1.6-i386 (as well as the amd64).
[Bug 1207716] Re: wine 1.6 cannot be installed, needs updated to gphoto2-6
the wine ppa its prety small (1 person) and the bug has ben posted on the wrong ppa... i sended a message to the ppa maintainer like 6 days ago and the dependency as not changed. If somebody wants to install wine 1.6 anyway there is a simple manner.. go to your software dependency file and delete the libgphoto2-port0 need from the package wine1.6-amd64 : in console type this to modify the dpkg dependencys: sudo gedit /var/lib/dpkg/status ctrl+f : "Package: wine1.6-amd64"///everything inside quotes on depends search for libgphoto2-port0 and remove it including the following version perenthesis (and trailing comma) , if it stills ask for wine: delete the dependency on these ppa specific archives: /var/lib/apt/lists/ppa.launchpad.net_ubuntu- wine_ppa_ubuntu_dists_saucy_main_binary-i386_Packages /// in Package: wine1.6-i386 and /var/lib/apt/lists/ppa.launchpad.net_ubuntu- wine_ppa_ubuntu_dists_saucy_main_binary-amd64_Packages /// in Package: wine1.6-amd64 and last, this is really dirty, so , use with caution -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1207716 Title: wine 1.6 cannot be installed, needs updated to gphoto2-6 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/wine/+bug/1207716/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1207716] Re: wine 1.6 cannot be installed, needs updated to gphoto2-6
@amoog: No, wine1.6 is not in the official repo (yet), but it will come based on the work of The Wine Team and I subscribed them to this bug, so they should be aware of the issue. @Kai Mast: the Ubuntu Wine team is fairly small (one person?), so the change may take a bit..
[Bug 1207716] Re: wine 1.6 cannot be installed, needs updated to gphoto2-6
It would help to let the maintainers of that ppa know instead of filing a bug against a ubuntu package that has nothing to do with that ppa.
