[Bug 1254536] Re: headphones work, built-in speakers don't (after update) ubuntu version 13.10

2013-11-26 Thread Herve COMBAUX
Hi Raymond,

Tks for the info above.
However i need some clarification about your explanation as i am not an advance
Linux user.
1) I got that Realtek codec parser takes the headphone output as primary at
first which generates the issue.
2) It seems that there is a patch to fix this issue ( see kernel link) but I
should do to get it? Click on this link : sound/pci/hda/patch_realtek.c 22?
then what I should do?
3) what is the next step of the procedure? It s all alien language fome:(
4) As for docking station i dont have got any
5) By the way, just noticed that the sound icon disappeared from the screen +
when I opened the system settings to manage the sound settings I noticed that
my built-in speakers are not recognized and mentioned anymore + no possibility
to launch a sound test anymore + plus input sound test doesnt react at all
anymore, howerver if I plug a headset I can still get sound but cannot control
its volume anymore :(

[Bug 1254536] Re: headphones work, built-in speakers don't (after update) ubuntu version 13.10

2013-11-26 Thread Raymond
you are not using latest alsa driver as the patch mention that

+/* Don't take HP output as primary
+ * strangely, the speaker output doesn't work on VAIO Z through DAC 0x05
+ */

Node 0x0f [Audio Mixer] wcaps 0x20010f: Stereo Amp-In Amp-Out
  Control: name=Speaker Playback Volume, index=0, device=0
ControlAmp: chs=3, dir=Out, idx=0, ofs=0
  Amp-In caps: ofs=0x00, nsteps=0x00, stepsize=0x00, mute=1
  Amp-In vals: [0x00 0x00] [0x00 0x00]
  Amp-Out caps: ofs=0x3e, nsteps=0x40, stepsize=0x03, mute=0
  Amp-Out vals: [0x40 0x40]
  Connection: 2
 0x05 0x0b

https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Audio/UpgradingAlsa/DKMS

you still need to find out which node 0x18 and node 0x19 is the mic jack

Please use apport to file bugs. You'll at least need to give logs:
