[Bug 1332520] Re: backlight bug
To solve your problem just do as following: sudo gedit /lib/udev/hwdb.d/60-keyboard.hwdb Add below the line Series 7 / 9 this one: keyboard:dmi:bvn*:bvr*:bd*:svn[sS][aA][mM][sS][uU][nN][gG]*:pn*670Z*:pvr* Save and close, now on the terminal: sudo dpkg-reconfigure udev Reboot. The patch for this was merged in systemd some days ago (see https://github.com/systemd/systemd/pull/136). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1332520 Title: backlight bug To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1332520/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1332520] Re: backlight bug
I do encounter this bug as well on my Smart Ativ 700. To be more specific : * With Ubuntu 14.04, you could not control the brightness with the keyboard, but you could do it manually by adjusting the brightness setting in the control panel * With Ubuntu 14.10 daily, you can control the brightness, but you can not go brighter than what the light sensor finds the most effictive. For example, if I'm in a dark room, I can only turn off the screen, but cannot make the screen brighter. Tried with kernel 3..16 final from the PPA above, no improvement. ** Tags added: kernel-bug-exists-upstream ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete = Confirmed -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1332520 Title: backlight bug To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1332520/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1332520] Re: backlight bug
Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please test the latest v3.16 kernel[0]. If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tag 'kernel-fixed-upstream'. If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the tag: 'kernel-bug-exists-upstream'. If you are unable to test the mainline kernel, for example it will not boot, please add the tag: 'kernel-unable-to-test-upstream'. Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug as Confirmed. Thanks in advance.
