The package will build now and be available at https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libvpd/2.2.4-0ubuntu2~14.04 in a few hours, and then in the -proposed repository. A review of the upstream delta between libvpd 2.2.3 and 2.2.4 doesn't appear to show any changes related to host endianness, only a series of fixes for minor compiler warnings and an extensive update to the build system.
