RE: [Bug 1373171] Re: package postgresql-client-9.1 (not installed) failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed pre-removal script returned error exit status 1

2015-03-26 Thread Tdipper
Lads,

I'm confused at this point as to the original error since I have upgraded to
Ubuntu 14.04 (from 12.04) and removed postgresql.

Or you guys okay or do you need something from me? I really don't want to try
and reinstall postgresql if it will blow up my system etc...

Thanks
Tony

2015-03-26 Thread Martin Pitt
Original bug:
 * Stopping PostgreSQL 9.1 database server * Error:
Could not create log file /var/log/postgresql/postgresql-9.1-main.log

Tdipper, it seems the permissions on /var/log/postgresql/ might be
wrong? But you removed postgresql already ... can you reproduce this
still?

Franck, you are apparently mixing packages from apt.postgresql.org with
ubuntu packages. Running apt-get update and dist-upgrade ought to fix
that?

Okay - No worries. Thanks for getting back to me. Since upgrading to
Ubuntu 14.04 LTS, things are more stable and I have not received any of
these errors - I also when into synaptic package manager and tried to
remove any instance of postgresql 9.1.
