[Bug 1406262] Re: Unable to set shortcut to media key PlayPause
The issue I've faced is that somehow the media key of X86PlayPause event cannot be thrown if not the xbindkeys package is sending it through that specific setting. It could be that somewhere else I've set some setting for that to happen, but I have no idea where to look. I've now purged xbindkeys and removed the setting file. Everything works perfectly fine even without that command now. Excuse me for this trivial bug which was only on my side. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1406262 Title: Unable to set shortcut to media key PlayPause To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xfce4-settings/+bug/1406262/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1406262] Re: Unable to set shortcut to media key PlayPause
Jakob, are you talking about xbindkeys? This little tool is not part of the default Xubuntu installation and may interfere with the keyboard shortcut functionality of Xfce. ** Changed in: xfce4-settings (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1406262 Title: Unable to set shortcut to media key PlayPause To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xfce4-settings/+bug/1406262/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1406262] Re: Unable to set shortcut to media key PlayPause
Apparently when I was looking for a way to globally assign the media keys to work with every program, I thought that these lines somehow had something to do with it not working as it should. I suddenly remembered the change and switched it back as I thought it didn't do anything. However, it did in fact disable the key to be executed as a command. Re- adding it fixed the issue and the key now works as it should do. Could someone please explain to me why this is the case, and if there's a way to remove the dependency of xbind as it clearly isn't needed for any of the other media keys. Thank you for your cooperation. ** Attachment added: ".xbindsrc" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xfce4-settings/+bug/1406262/+attachment/4290426/+files/.xbindsrc -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1406262 Title: Unable to set shortcut to media key PlayPause To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xfce4-settings/+bug/1406262/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Ah, that's not an udevd bug then. Reassigning to XFCE. ** Package changed: systemd (Ubuntu) => xfce4-settings (Ubuntu) ** Changed in: xfce4-settings (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete => New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1406262 Title: Unable to set shortcut to media key PlayPause To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xfce4-settings/+bug/1406262/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1406262] Re: Unable to set shortcut to media key PlayPause
I meant that when trying to assign the PlayPause media button to any command, it does not execute that command. The key is not broken, as is displayed in the attached evtest output. ** Attachment added: "evtest.txt" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/systemd/+bug/1406262/+attachment/4290034/+files/evtest.txt -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1406262 Title: Unable to set shortcut to media key PlayPause To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/systemd/+bug/1406262/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1406262] Re: Unable to set shortcut to media key PlayPause
Hello Jakob, Jakob Ronestjärna [2014-12-29 12:48 -]: > However, I found out that the PlayPause did not work. The command > works, but when assigning it to that button it does nothing. I'm afraid I don't understand what you mean by this. Can you please install the "evtest" package, run "sudo evtest" in a terminal, press the PlayPause key, and copy&paste the whole output? Thanks! ** Changed in: systemd (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1406262 Title: Unable to set shortcut to media key PlayPause To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/systemd/+bug/1406262/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
