[Bug 1500216] Re: Installing/Updating language support failed with "org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.NoReply" message
could you give the output of "dpkg -l | packagekit"? there was a buggy/incompatible version in wily-proposed, which didn't migrate to wily and got deleted, but if you are using wily-proposed you maybe got it... (you shouldn't use proposed on devel version, it's not an user archive it's made for packages to be tested and transition only if there are no issues) ** Changed in: language-selector (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided => High ** Changed in: language-selector (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1500216 Title: Installing/Updating language support failed with "org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.NoReply" message To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/language-selector/+bug/1500216/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Output of command is ii gir1.2-packagekitglib-1.0 0.9.5-0ubuntu1 ii libpackagekit-glib2-16:amd640.9.5-0ubuntu1 (Thanks for the advice about proposed repositories. I'm using them in purpose. That's a testing system in order to report bugs, translation mistakes ..etc. https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed) Further testing showed that is the aptd causing this problem. Imeddiately after the error Dbus message window, apport (this time) reacted with a crash report (thankfully) . Attached here. So, maybe this is a dup of bug #1494891 ? ** Attachment added: "aptd.crash" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/language-selector/+bug/1500216/+attachment/4478436/+files/_usr_sbin_aptd.0.crash ** Changed in: language-selector (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete => New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1500216 Title: Installing/Updating language support failed with "org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.NoReply" message To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/language-selector/+bug/1500216/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1500216] Re: Installing/Updating language support failed with "org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.NoReply" message
@Sebastien, you were right ! I have downgraded from proposed , several packages have been downgraded including the following (maybe related on what you said) warning: downgrading gir1.2-packagekitglib-1.0 from 0.9.5-0ubuntu1 to 0.8.17-4ubuntu6~gcc5.2 Preparing to unpack .../gir1.2-packagekitglib-1.0_0.8.17-4ubuntu6~gcc5.2_amd64.deb ... Unpacking gir1.2-packagekitglib-1.0 (0.8.17-4ubuntu6~gcc5.2) over (0.9.5-0ubuntu1) ... dpkg: warning: downgrading libpackagekit-glib2-16:amd64 from 0.9.5-0ubuntu1 to 0.8.17-4ubuntu6~gcc5.2 Preparing to unpack .../libpackagekit-glib2-16_0.8.17-4ubuntu6~gcc5.2_amd64.deb .. Unpacking libpackagekit-glib2-16:amd64 (0.8.17-4ubuntu6~gcc5.2) over (0.9.5-0ubuntu1) and now the problem has been resolved. The system works OK, particularly and in general. I think I'll get off the 'proposed' train. Marking this bug as invalid ? (I guess). ** Tags removed: likely-dup -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1500216 Title: Installing/Updating language support failed with "org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.NoReply" message To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/language-selector/+bug/1500216/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Thanks for your report, Nick. I wasn't able to reproduce the problem on a newly installed and updated Ubuntu wily amd64. [Bug 1500216] Re: Installing/Updating language support failed with "org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.NoReply" message
Unfortunately terminal had zero output during the execution of command (gnome-language-selector) , despite that the error message appeared. See attached screenshot3 I had some output in keyboard interrupt (Ctrl+C) but I'm not sure if it's relevant with the error message. [Bug 1500216] Re: Installing/Updating language support failed with "org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.NoReply" message
I think that traceback info may we useful for the right person. I have learned that -proposed should normally *not* be enabled on development installs, but rather enabled temporarily when you know what you are doing.
