Yeah especially when developers done want to fix issues. I have recommended a lot of people go to mint. It's stabler and dev's actually care about the users. Hopefully, the comments/tone Stephen Webb used aren't reflective of the whole attitude of the Ubuntu dev's. I have to believe they understand doing what's best for the user. This one hurt. I'm installing for a new, curious about linux user and the live USB was fine. Installation crashed and I find no fixes after two days of searching. We'll go with Mint Rosa which installed just fine. I suggest you google "upstart desktop fails," "upstart desktop fails to load," "upstart blank desktop" and look at the 168,000 results (for just upstart desktop fails). Upstart is not deprecated and is still in use as the session manager in Ubuntu even with systemd in use as the init manager. Systemd does not offer equivalent functionality and there are not plands to add them..
