[Bug 1547024] Re: [N501VW, Realtek ALC668, Black Headphone Out, Right] Static Noise Problem

2020-08-07 Thread CHDN
Still having this problem in 2020 (18.04)
Spent the last 4-5 hours trying to fix it.
Just found this thread.
Not sure how relevant (new to Ubuntu/Linux since 2019), but I noticed this...

When running 'sudo lspci -v'

BEFORE SUSPEND/SLEEP
00:1f.3 Audio device: Intel Corporation 100 Series/C230 Series Chipset Family
HD Audio Controller (rev 31)
Subsystem: ASUSTeK Computer Inc. Sunrise Point-H HD Audio

AFTER SUSPEND
00:1f.3 Audio device: Intel Corporation 100 Series/C230 Series Chipset Family

The IRQ number is changed. Not sure why that is happening or if it
should be of concern, or creating some sort of conflict?

However, when I run 'pacmd list-cards', I see 'alsa.long_card_name =
"HDA Intel PCH at 0xdd428000 irq 141"', so I'm wondering if the OS gets
confused somehow upon sleep/hibernate?

I can't get any fixes to work besides rebooting - would really love even a
temporary fix here.
(the old fix doesn't work for me on 18.04

2016-06-16 Thread Zakatell Kanda
@Viacheslav, You need to build the kernel from source and apply the
patch there. If you don't know what that means then I suggest on not
doing this as it can make your system unstable.

If your brave enough and you want a quicker solution, then I suggest to
install the mainline kernel which have this fix. You can read more about
it here: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/MainlineBuilds

2016-06-16 Thread Viacheslav Semykrasov
1) Noise appeared again after wake up my laptop (editing alsa-base.conf
approach)
2) I tried to run patch with command

patch < /tmp/fixup-ux501vw.patch

but got a request to input:
"File to patch:"
And I don't know what should I type... I even don't have /sound folder as
mentioned in this patch.
Please, advice me. What am I doing wrong?

Anyway, it should be applied for 4.4 kernel if there is a possibility.

I have the same laptop, Ubuntu 16.04 also and the same pitch/whistle
static noise in headphones (it doesn't matter whether my sound volume is
muted or not). The noise started approximately after login screen
appearing. I used this temporary solution
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2204740 using p. 2 and 3:

2. Add this line to /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf
Code:
options snd-hda-intel model=dell-headset-multi
3. Reload alsa
Code:
sudo alsa force-reload
pulseaudio -k

and it works for me now but I confirm the problem still exists
