[Bug 160726] Re: Random switching between battery/AC mode

2008-09-01 Thread Andreas Wenning
Does anyone still have this problem? Please test if it still exists in
hardy.

If it does:
1. Do you get a popup on the screen about switching between AC/battery?
 2. Does the problem also occur if kde-guidance-powermanager is exited (right
click the battery in the panel and choose exit)?

not pop up since I am not running the exact same settings So

2008-03-17 Thread awen
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. The issue that you reported is one that should be
reproducible with the live environment of the Desktop CD of the
development release - Hardy Heron. It would help us greatly if you could
test with it so we can work on getting it fixed in the next release of
Ubuntu. You can find out more about the development release at [WWW]
http://www.ubuntu.com/testing/ . Thanks again and we appreciate your
help.

If it still happens:
1. Do you get a popup on the screen about switching between AC/battery?
2. Does the problem also occur if kde-guidance-powermanager is exited (right
click the battery in the panel and choose exit)?

this is uber annoying, and it seems it won't be solved before a long
time. Suspend doesn't work for me either, the laptop shutdowns instead
of reawakening.

2008-01-20 Thread pickett.aaron
Hrmm.. this is a real annoying problem I did some research, and on
one form there was something about adding noacpi at the end of the
script in the grub loader. It seemed like this fixed my problem. But
no, it started acting up again. What is the link to the isssue on this
wen site? Also, any new news?

It has been categorised but nothing has happened in terms of assignment or
priority, it is still listed as new and the importance in undecided by those in
power.
Needless to say that for me this is critical since I can't use the laptop on
the go...

[Bug 160726] Re: Random switching between battery/AC mode

2007-12-16 Thread Theodoric
I have the same problem with laptop switching between battery and AC when
plugged in. I am running Windows XP, SP2 on an HP ze 2000 series laptop.
I have never been involved with Ubuntu, I just found this forum after a google
search. The problem just appeared after my latest format and only happens for
just a few minutes when I first plug my laptop in after being unplugged. Very
annoying.
Please let me know if you find out anything. I'll do the same. Thanks

Theodoric.

This is a bug-tracking system for issues in the Ubuntu Linux
distribution only so you won't get much help because your problem is
either in the hardware or Microsoft Windows XP, neither of which this
supports. If you want more help you should find a windows forum or
contact HP and Microsoft.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. This bug did not have a package associated with it,
which is important for ensuring that it gets looked at by the proper
developers. You can learn more about finding the right package at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage . I have classified this
bug as a bug in kde-guidance-powermanager.

[Bug 160726] Re: Random switching between battery/AC mode

2007-11-07 Thread RurouniJones
** Description changed:

  Kubuntu 7.10 Gutsy
- Kubuntu device database submission ID: 5630a3b12ef95e9c0df7d4913ed95d0e
+ Kubuntu device database submission ID:
http://hwdb.ubuntu.com/?xml=5630a3b12ef95e9c0df7d4913ed95d0e (When it finally
loads)

When the laptop is running on battery power or the AC (With the battery
attached) the laptop randomly switches between AC and Battery mode (i.e.
screen dimming and CPU frequency reduced).
There is no pattern to the changes between the two modes and it can happen
several times in a few minutes.

When the laptop is switching between the modes the life-timer on the
battery goes totally inaccurate (For example: Reporting 0% charged but
charging even though the battery is fully charged)

The only way to run correctly is on AC with no battery attached. I am using
the default power manager that comes with Kubuntu.
This issue has been reported by other users on MSI laptops with Intel
chipsets: See http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=582673

  Laptop mode is not enabled.

  Regards,

  RurouniJones
