[Bug 1655123] Re: Kernel 4.10 stalls on restart
apport information ** Description changed: For rc2 and rc3, the machine stalls on first restart only (no tty) and runs OK after (no shutdown problems). Same result when removing the lowest Kernel (all of them). Canonical Kernel permanently stalls on restart but runs OK. Plus, the boot sequence passes by the Grub menu under 4.10.0-0 (not dual-boot, UEFI). Since last night, suspend mode won’t wake-up under rc3 (no tty). [Bug 1655123] Re: Kernel 4.10 stalls on restart
The only way to reach Grub’s menu is a cold shut down or to unplug the power supply. 1. The clock is set default to 30sec.(no effect at 3sec.). The menu is black-low-res. $ sudo update-grub2 shows Kylin boot image and I’m able to open it. Installer was black? 2. HP key enabled in bios gives a third option in the menu: System Setup. In/out in ss shows the Grub menu in native res. 3. I was not able to reproduce a bug where boot stalls on Grub with no count down and stays in idle state until enter’s press. Done with this install and its 24 hours agreement. In order to restore splash screen, a more robust acpi correction(s) would be appreciate. Thanks in advance! [Bug 1655123] Re: Kernel 4.10 stalls on restart
Fast boot is disable in bios. If I set Grub time out to 20, the machine stalls on restart. 12 or 15 has no effect. Still not able to reach the Grub menu with left shift. Grub menu (manual partitioning, entire disk, UEFI) and suspend mode are the 2 bugs left. The machine runs normally with rc3 alone. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1655123 Title: Kernel 4.10 stalls on restart To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1655123/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

I got the Grub menu back but it is intermittent. Will do the inverse now: re-install 4.9.0.11 and delete 4.10.0. 4.10.0 and its associated ppa were deleted. The HDD is noise free now.
