[Bug 1685002] Re: Dependencies appear to be wrong - package xserver-xorg-core not installed

[Bug 1685002] Re: Dependencies appear to be wrong - package xserver-xorg-core not installed
I'm facing this after a fresh install of 16.04.3. Trying to install some of the `xserver-xorg-input-*` packages are displaying this unmet dependencies error. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1685002 Title: Dependencies appear to be wrong - package xserver-xorg-core not installed To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-input-libinput/+bug/1685002/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1685002] Re: Dependencies appear to be wrong - package xserver-xorg-core not installed
I was about to submit a new bug then I've found this. Thanks Timo for your clarification, but the problem is that this is not intuitive and still, a quite large number of community packages have their dependencies declared using the standard packages. The HWE update model is great, but having renamed packages is a PITA. What do you think about using an additional package repository for HWE instead of renamed packages? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1685002 Title: Dependencies appear to be wrong - package xserver-xorg-core not installed To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-input-libinput/+bug/1685002/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

you're not supposed to have -libinput installable, that's not possible because it's bound to the server input ABI install -libinput-hwe-16.04 instead ** Changed in: xserver-xorg-input-libinput (Ubuntu) Status: New => Invalid -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1685002 Title: Dependencies appear to be wrong - package xserver-xorg-core not installed To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-input-libinput/+bug/1685002/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
