[Bug 1685002] Re: Dependencies appear to be wrong - package xserver-xorg-core not installed

2017-09-20 Thread Timo Aaltonen
Yes, and then you should understand what the errors mean

Renamed packages are a PITA but nothing I can do about that. Or this bug
report.

[Bug 1685002] Re: Dependencies appear to be wrong - package xserver-xorg-core not installed

2017-09-20 Thread Rael Gugelmin Cunha
I'm facing this after a fresh install of 16.04.3. Trying to install some
of the `xserver-xorg-input-*` packages are displaying this unmet
dependencies error.

[Bug 1685002] Re: Dependencies appear to be wrong - package xserver-xorg-core not installed

2017-04-28 Thread htrex
I was about to submit a new bug then I've found this.
Thanks Timo for your clarification, but the problem is that this is not
intuitive and still, a quite large number of community packages have their
dependencies declared using the standard packages. The HWE update model is
great, but having renamed packages is a PITA.
What do you think about using an additional package repository for HWE instead
of renamed packages?

[Bug 1685002] Re: Dependencies appear to be wrong - package xserver-xorg-core not installed

2017-04-20 Thread Timo Aaltonen
you're not supposed to have -libinput installable, that's not possible
because it's bound to the server input ABI

install -libinput-hwe-16.04 instead

** Changed in: xserver-xorg-input-libinput (Ubuntu)
   Status: New => Invalid
