Just a note, the ZNC package in Ubuntu is based on the ZNC package in Debian. That package was not written by-default to behave as a system service, unlike other distributions where they give you that option. This may ultimately need to be sent up to Debian for proper handling at the package level. ** Description changed: znc sources include systemd service file[1] but it's not included in the package. systemd support can be enabled with --with-systemdsystemunitdir configure option it seems[2].
