[Bug 1797538] Re: watchdog: BUG: soft lockup - CPU#0 stuck for 22s! [kworker/0:1:85]

2018-10-21 Thread Leandro Heck
@Joseph, I was able to install a new kernel. I didn't test the rc7
because I found a rc8 there.

I am running:

Linux moon 4.19.0-041900rc8-lowlatency #201810150631 SMP PREEMPT Mon Oct
15 06:35:44 UTC 2018 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

I got other problems with my Dell XPS 15 9570, that I was able to fix.

They were:

1. [drm:intel_pipe_update_end [i915]] *ERROR* Atomic update failure on pipe A
2. nouveau: DRM-master:: suspend failed with -100

The #1 was fixed with:
https://www.dedoimedo.com/computers/intel-microcode-atomic-update.html

The #2 was fixed installing nvidia-driver-390

The systems seems stable now. The touchpad is also working.

Joseph, do you have any suggestion on how I can I apply the upstream
kernel once the system freezes right after the login? Is it possible to
apply it from the live USB?

I have the same issue after upgrading it from 18.04.1 and also after a
clean install. I can't do mutch with the computer because it is freezing
after the login. The trackpad also freezes about 10s after the login.

2018-10-12 Thread treb0r
This occurred right after I upgraded to 18.10 from 18.04.1.

Earlier today I got an apt upgrade to kernel 4.18.0-9-generic.

The machine is much more stable now.

I can't test further at the moment.

[Bug 1797538] Re: watchdog: BUG: soft lockup - CPU#0 stuck for 22s! [kworker/0:1:85]

2018-10-12 Thread Joseph Salisbury
Did this issue start happening after an update/upgrade? Was there a
prior kernel version where you were not having this particular problem?

Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? Refer
to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please test the latest
v4.19 kernel[0].

If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following
tag 'kernel-fixed-upstream'.

If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the tag:
'kernel-bug-exists-upstream'.

Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug as
"Confirmed".

Thanks in advance.
