[Bug 18605] Re: Touchpad doesn't tap-to-click anymore after suspend
This might be fixed upstream in kernel 2.6.32.16. From the changelog: commit 04a08885c36dc2f4663900d007b9d71a7e7f2b92 Author: Dmitry Torokhov Date: Thu May 13 00:42:23 2010 -0700 Input: psmouse - reset all types of mice before reconnecting commit ef110b24e28f36620f63dab94708a17c7e267358 upstream. Synaptics hardware requires resetting device after suspend to ram in order for the device to be operational. The reset lives in synaptics-specific reconnect handler, but it is not being invoked if synaptics support is disabled and the device is handled as a standard PS/2 device (bare or IntelliMouse protocol). Let's add reset into generic reconnect handler as well. [Bug 18605] Re: Touchpad doesn't tap-to-click anymore after suspend
I wrote a small program that can be used to work-around the gnome- settings-daemon TapButton2/TapButton3 switching problem. It may be useful if you don't want to manually compile gnome-settings-daemon every time it is updated. If you switch between VTs, suspend and resume or insert and remove other pointing devices it will reset TapButton settings back to what you want. It uses xinput watch-props to monitor changes to xinput properties. Whenever a certain property is changed the program resets this property back to the one configured in the properties array. You may want to edit this part of the code before compiling. To compile: $ gcc -o xinputd xinputd.c To install: $ sudo install -p -m 0755 xinputd /usr/local/bin/ To automatically start the program when logging in add xinputd to System - Preferences - Startup Applications. ** Attachment added: xinputd.c http://launchpadlibrarian.net/36479768/xinputd.c -- Touchpad doesn't tap-to-click anymore after suspend https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/18605 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is a direct subscriber. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

same thing for me. all tab-scrolling things don't work anymore! Sony Vaio VGN S560P By the way, I believe launchpad needs a more advanced Hardware Database. One that is linked with the user profiles. I would upload my dmidecode, lshw or whatever once to my profile and the bug fixing crew could access that information then. They could for example use an interface and say, what system components do the bug reporters have in common. That way they could more easily track down faulty hardware. I can't see why you the bug-fixers have to download all the lshw files etc. by hand to investigate. what do we have computers for? ** Attachment added: lshw.txt http://launchpadlibrarian.net/7974430/lshw.txt -- Touchpad doesn't tap-to-click anymore after suspend https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/18605 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is a direct subscriber. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

I had the same problem on my HP Pavilion zv6000 I dont know if it was after upgrading my kernel or after trying to get the ati-driver work, but my touchpad scroll-area doesnt work anymore this is the way I fixed it: In my /etc/X11/ directory was no xorg.conf file only a copy of it: xorg.conf.original-0 so I renamed it into xorg.conf, restarted the x-server and it worked -- Touchpad doesn't tap-to-click anymore after suspend https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/18605 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is a direct subscriber. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 18605] Re: Touchpad doesn't tap-to-click anymore after suspend
At my laptop the issue is the same: tapping does work, but double-clicking and scrolling doesn't. I just recently noticed it had something to do with standby. It is a NEC Versa P550. [Bug 18605] Re: Touchpad doesn't tap-to-click anymore after suspend
Vincenzo's tip also works for me. I disable tapping by default, but when waking from suspend, tapping was always enabled, and scrolling disabled. Using the DOUBLE_CONSOLE_SWITCH=true line works though. [Bug 18605] Re: Touchpad doesn't tap-to-click anymore after suspend
I tried this workaround, but it does not work for me. To be precise, I tried: resume from suspend, then switch to an unused console, log in and do 'startx -- :1'. That indeed presents me with an X session which has a working touchpad scroll. However, switching back to the original X session, I still do not have the scroll features back. In my case, a suspend resume also leads to loss of functionality of the scroll wheel on my USB mouse. -- Touchpad doesn't tap-to-click anymore after suspend https://launchpad.net/bugs/18605 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 18605] Re: Touchpad doesn't tap-to-click anymore after suspend
What Vincenzo Ciancia suggested worked for me. The workaround is the DOUBLE_CONSOLE_SWITCH which is set in the /etc/default/acpi-support file.Set this option to true by. The line should look like: DOUBLE_CONSOLE_SWITCH=true If still confused, please refer to the afore mentioned Ciancia email. -- Touchpad doesn't tap-to-click anymore after suspend https://launchpad.net/bugs/18605 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 18605] Re: Touchpad doesn't tap-to-click anymore after suspend
I have a similar problem: after resuming from standby mode, scrolling using touchpad borders does not work. If I start another X session, and then get back to mine using ctrl+alt+f7, it works again so this seems a problem in initialization of the driver. Moreover, if I enable switching to console before suspending (DOUBLE_CONSOLE_SWITCH=true in /etc/default /acpi-support) it works correctly (so this is _the_ workaround). Can anyone check if these workarounds also solve their problems? I suspect that making DOUBLE_CONSOLE_SWITCH the default option would be safer for most ubuntu installations. -- Touchpad doesn't tap-to-click anymore after suspend https://launchpad.net/bugs/18605 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
