[Bug 190144] Re: Wireless connection lost during heavy network load.

2009-12-28 Thread RickB
I too have this problem. I have a Samsung R620 with a RealTek 8192E and
Ndiswrapper runs OK until I transfer a large file. It usually fails
quickly - after a few tens of Mb transferred.

If I open the Windows Wireless Drivers control panel and remove then re-
add the WinXP driver then the wifi comes back to life. Until it dies
again.

[Bug 190144] Re: Wireless connection lost during heavy network load.

2009-07-09 Thread kernel-janitor
Hi matthias-andersson,

Please be sure to confirm this issue exists with the latest development
release of Ubuntu. ISO CD images are available from
http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/ . Please then run following command
from a Terminal (Applications-Accessories-Terminal). It will
automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this
report.

apport-collect -p linux-image-`uname -r` 190144

Also, if you could test the latest upstream kernel available that would
be great. It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the
issue. Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Once
you've tested the upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs-upstream-
testing' tag. This can be done by clicking on the yellow pencil icon
next to the tag located at the bottom of the bug description and
deleting the 'needs-upstream-testing' text. Please let us know your
results.

Thanks in advance.

[Bug 190144] Re: Wireless connection lost during heavy network load.

2009-06-11 Thread Sylvain Cardine
Hi,

I add my experience with this chipset. I use Ubuntu for many years on a ASUS S6
laptop and i 've never got any problems with wifi connection until a fresh
install of 9.04.
I loose the wlan connection randomly. Notice, i can connect to a public hotspot
of my internet box (freebox HD) when i can't reach my private network in the
same box. I loose both after a time, even while no activity.

sorry for my english too.

[Bug 190144] Re: Wireless connection lost during heavy network load.

2009-05-11 Thread nat
...integration of my earlier post (2 comments ago):
My problem occurs not only during downloading (heavy load), but also just
browsing the internet with some firefox tabs open.
Observing Wicd manager, I see that the first symptoms are that the signal of my
wireless connection starts to going down, and then all the signals I received
disappear completely.
The manager says that I'm still connected, but effectively the signal is lost.
I've to push the disconnect button, refresh sometimes the wicd manager and then
all the signal start to reappear.

I'm not using ndiswrapper: I'm using b43-fwcutter.

Thanks in advance and sorry for my English.

[Bug 190144] Re: Wireless connection lost during heavy network load.

2009-05-10 Thread Patrick Roberts
I experience the same problem. There are no problems when I'm just
browsing the internet, but when downloading updates or using the
Terminal Server Client, the wireless connection is lost.

When the connection is lost, it isn't possible to reconnect. The system
tries to reconnect for a few minutes, but then prompts for the password.
The text box is already filled with the password, so I just click
Connect. Again the system tries to reconnect, but after a few minutes
prompts for the password. I clear the text box and enter the password
manually, but the system keeps on failing to connect and keeps on
prompting for the password.

Logging of and logging on doesn't solve the problem. After a reboot the
system is able to reconnect.

I experience this problem on a DELL Inspiron 9400. I'm currently working
on my desktop (wired connection). If you need any information, tell me
what you need and I'll provide this information.

[Bug 190144] Re: Wireless connection lost during heavy network load.

2009-03-22 Thread Carsten Block
Attached to this comment please find the corresponding log from
/var/log/wpa_supplicant.log (again MAC addresses replaced). To me it
looks like the log entry WPA: EAPOL-Key Replay Counter did not increase
- dropping packet is the key as this event seems to occur frequently
and each time after it occurred the connection is lost. Also it would
describe the Autorisierung fehlgeschlagen (Authentication failure)
entries in the router's connection log that frequently show up in the
log excerpt above.

So what is EAPOL-Key Replay Counter? And is it supposed to be increased
on the laptop's side or is it that the router has a firmware bug (but if
the latter is the case why do the windows machines work then?)?

[Bug 190144] Re: Wireless connection lost during heavy network load.

2009-03-20 Thread cblock
Hi I just upgraded from intrepid release to jaunty alpha 6 and now
experience a similar problem. Whenever I start downloading a large file
the wireless connection drops and the network manager eventually
reconnects to the wireless network after some seconds. In the meantime
the connection is (naturally) broken.

Below is a dump of lshw -C network:

Please note that we are using the very same DSL router (Fritzbox 7270) with
different computers (inluding Win XP, Win Vista and, previously on my laptop,
Ubuntu Intrepid and the connection does not break with these systems. Please
also note that this problem does not occur if I use a cable connection instead.

In the router's activity log I can see that my laptop connects and -
after starting a large download at high speed - eventually an
authentication failure is logged. Maybe this helps?!

[Bug 190144] Re: Wireless connection lost during heavy network load.

2008-08-28 Thread Leann Ogasawara
The Ubuntu Kernel Team is planning to move to the 2.6.27 kernel for the
upcoming Intrepid Ibex 8.10 release. As a result, the kernel team would
appreciate it if you could please test this newer 2.6.27 Ubuntu kernel.
There are one of two ways you should be able to test:

1) If you are comfortable installing packages on your own, the linux-
image-2.6.27-* package is currently available for you to install and
test.

--or--

2) The upcoming Alpha5 for Intrepid Ibex 8.10 will contain this newer
2.6.27 Ubuntu kernel. Alpha5 is set to be released Thursday Sept 4.
Please watch http://www.ubuntu.com/testing for Alpha5 to be announced.
You should then be able to test via a LiveCD.

Please let us know immediately if this newer 2.6.27 kernel resolves the
bug reported here or if the issue remains. More importantly, please
open a new bug report for each new bug/regression introduced by the
2.6.27 kernel and tag the bug report with 'linux-2.6.27'. Also, please
specifically note if the issue does or does not appear in the 2.6.26
kernel. Thanks again, we really appreicate your help and feedback.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make

any activity in it recently. We were wondering is this still an issue
for you? Can you try with latest Ubuntu release? Thanks in advance.

2008-08-24 Thread Matthias Andersson
Hi!

I can confirm that this still happens but I've been in contact with
the Fonero-people and they've told me it might be their hardware that
gets overrun by the several hundred connections that ktorrent tries to
form. I've tried to set ktorrent to use less connections globally but
haven't been able to completely eliminate the problem.

OK, I will set this bug's Status back to New so that it won't expire.
If you get any updates, please post back here so we can take appropriate
action on the bug if needed. Hopefully if somebody else is experiencing
this problem, they can come by and Confirm it. Perhaps somebody with
more wireless debugging experience knows what other information may be
needed, I will ask around. Good luck.

[Bug 190144] Re: Wireless connection lost during heavy network load.

2008-08-24 Thread Chris Coulson
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Unfortunately we can't fix it without more information.

Please include the following additional information, if you have not already
done so (pay attention to lspci's additional options), as required by the
Ubuntu Kernel Team:
1. Please include the output of the command uname -a in your next response.
It should be one, long line of text which includes the exact kernel version
you're running, as well as the CPU architecture.
2. Please run the command dmesg dmesg.log after a fresh boot and attach the
resulting file dmesg.log to this bug report.
3. Please run the command sudo lspci -vvnn lspci-vvnn.log and attach the
resulting file lspci-vvnn.log to this bug report.
4. Please attach your /var/log/kern.log and /var/log/kern.log.0 to this bug
report.

In addition, please could you attach your /var/log/syslog, as it might
contain some useful messages from network manager.

For your reference, the full description of procedures for kernel-
related bug reports is available at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelTeamBugPolicies Thanks in advance!
