Ok, so I think you can remove the mainline kernel and install "linux- oem-20.04c" kernel which is 5.13 based. Hiya - I went for it - uninstalled various modules and installed the latest mainline kernel - 5.13.5 - and the problem no longer occurs. I have a fix in my mind - but to verify the fix, either install a test kernel I provide or compile a patched kernel by yourself will be required. I'm sorry - I don't really feel confident to try the mainline kernel. I've looked at the instructions, which say to remove nvidia, virtualbox etc etc which i use - and the instructions don't actually map correctly to the layout of the kernel download files. For example, the instructions mention that the hashes of the downloads are all in a CHECKSUMS file, but actually, only the hash of a file called "crack.bundle" is in there. If this is a legitimate file, it is pretty terribly named - it looks like the kernels have been compromised, and i've no idea how to use this bundle file to verify the hashes of the downloaded kernels. I'm really sorry. I would love to be helpful - but i don't really know how to do that and then get back to the kernel I'm on. I don't even know if all my stuff (virtualbox, nvidia, etc) will work with it.
