I agree with Johannes Langlotz. In going from Dapper to Hardy (6.06 to 8.04) the new wallpaper suffered. The new wallpaper is busier, more distracting, and less esthetically pleasing and less elegant than the earlier version in 6.06. The solution would be simple if someone could tell us where we can download the original Dapper wallpaper. Also, I thought the Dapper boot up and login screens were better as well - warmer tones. The sound effects were better as well - just the right tone, earthy but not overstated. Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. This bug did not have a package associated with it, which is important for ensuring that it gets looked at by the proper developers. You can learn more about finding the right package at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage . I have classified this bug as a bug in ubuntu-wallpapers. However, I am not sure this is a bug at all. Maybe you could elaborate a little bit, why you think, this is a bug and what you think needs to be changed. Also, after having proposed changes (e.g. So what would you change in order to make it look less bloody?), it would be good to change the Importance to wishlist. In my personal opinion, I think, the wallpaper looks just fine. I do not associate the red with blood. But I remember reading some posts about that in the ubuntuforums.org. I think the red color is only present on the heron. And I can't help myself IMHO it looks like blood. It is similar to this bug: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/feisty-session-splashes/+bug/92433 Some people see it, some not. I would replace the whole wallpaper since I don't like this kind of art at all (Dapper and Gutsy Wallpaper were much nicer IMHO). But design has never been a real strength of Ubuntu. I just had the phallic bug in mind when I saw the wallpaper.
