We're closing this bug since it is has been some time with no response from the
original reporter. However, if the issue still exists please feel free to
reopen with the requested information. Also, if you could, please test against
the latest development version of Ubuntu, since this confirms the bug is one we
may be able to pass upstream for help.

[Bug 200568] Re: Ubuntu hardy does not provide suspend or hibernate on Thinkpad laptop T61 with NVidia

2011-04-27 Thread bugbot
This bug report was filed against an old version of Ubuntu.
Can you confirm whether this is still an issue in natty?

If you don't mind, it would be very helpful if you could update the bug
report in launchpad to 'Fix Released' if it is no longer an issue for
you, or if it is still occurring under natty, please tag the bug 'natty'
so it's easier for us to track.

[Bug 200568] Re: Ubuntu hardy does not provide suspend or hibernate on Thinkpad laptop T61 with NVidia

2008-12-02 Thread Peter Wainwright
I also have a T61 with NVidia Quadro NVS 140M.

I have Hardy Heron (LTS) with all updates applied.

The strange thing is that using the open-source driver, I can resume
from Hibernate but not from Suspend.

Whereas using the proprietary NVidia driver (from
System/Administration/Hardware Drivers), I can resume from Suspend but
not from Hibernate. For the latter I just get a distorted Ubuntu logo
and some screen noise, as if the video mode has not been properly
restored.

I do hope you can fix these problems; for as long as I have used a linux
laptop (and I've had 3 or 4 laptops and several distributions),
hibernate/suspend has been problematic.

If I have time I may try Intrepid Ibex or a new kernel, but I'm not
hopeful...

I'm attaching lspci -vvnn and the Xorg.0.log.old from may last failed
attempt to hibernate and resume. The latter has an error (EE) message
at the end - perhaps this is meaningful to someone?

[Bug 200568] Re: Ubuntu hardy does not provide suspend or hibernate on Thinkpad laptop T61 with NVidia

2008-10-24 Thread Nicolas Diogo
hi,

i am happy to say that syspend works, almost always fine. As every so often
there is a message on ubuntu desktop saying that there was a problem while
suspending. but it suspends and resumes fine.
i am using the proprietary NVidia driver from ubuntu repository.

however, hibernate does not show any sign of improvement.
it either closes the X server and then returns to the login screen, or turns
off (as if hibernating) but never resumes when powered on.

i do not have my machine at the moment, but i will post any logs, and X
configuration by tomorrow.

thanks for looking into it.

Nicolas

2008-10-23 Thread Bryce Harrington
Hi nicolasdiogo,

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu
better. You reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in
it recently. We were wondering is this still an issue for you? Can you try with
the latest development release of Ubuntu? (ISOs are available from
cdimage.ubuntu.com)

If it remains an issue, could you also attach a new /var/log/Xorg.0.log?
Thanks in advance.

The output of lspci -vvnn would also be worth having.
