In my system the icon-file used for ark ist named "utilities-file- archiver.png" and is located for example in /usr/lib/kde4/share/icons/oxygen/48x48/apps/ This file is in the kde-icons-oxygen package. I don't know that anything has changed. If something did change regarding the icon, I would have seen it with an update. I reinstalled ark-kde4 but there still isn't an icon. Unless it is only included in the oxygen icon package... Scratch that. I checked the oxygen icon package & did a search, but it doesn't include an Ark icon either. Could you try to find where the icon is located? Hi echoes, I can`t confirm this problem. I installed Kubuntu-KDE4 today and updated it.
