[Bug 260533] Re: Screen resolution set to something invalid
In Jaunty, nv seems just to fail entirely, rather than setting a correct mode. ** Attachment added: Archive of log and configuration http://launchpadlibrarian.net/22620563/failsafeX-backup-090214224815.tar ** Summary changed: - Screen resolution set to something invalid + nv driver fails to start correctly with GeForce 9600GT -- nv driver fails to start correctly with GeForce 9600GT https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/260533 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 260533] Re: Screen resolution set to something invalid
** Description changed: Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-nv Upon booting Intrepid Ibex Alpha 4, nv chooses 1600x1...@60hz, which is not supported by my monitor, but looking at the logs, it does see the correct resolution of 1440x...@75hz. Switch to vesa allowed me to get a usable (although not correct) resolution. I forgot to add that this is an nVidia GeForce 9600GT, with an Acer AL1917W monitor, whose native resolution is 1440x900. + + [lspci] + 00:00.0 Host bridge [0600]: ATI Technologies Inc RD790 Northbridge only dual slot PCI-e_GFX and HT3 K8 part [1002:5956] + Subsystem: ATI Technologies Inc RD790 Northbridge only dual slot PCI-e_GFX and HT3 K8 part [1002:5956] + 01:00.0 VGA compatible controller [0300]: nVidia Corporation G94 [GeForce 9600 GT] [10de:0622] (rev a1) + Subsystem: eVga.com. [Bug 260533] Re: Screen resolution set to something invalid
Hi mighmos, Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. You reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering is this still an issue for you? Can you try with the latest development release of Ubuntu? (ISOs are available from cdimage.ubuntu.com) If it remains an issue, could you also attach a new /var/log/Xorg.0.log? Thanks in advance. The output of lspci -vvnn would also be worth having. ** Changed in: xserver-xorg-video-nv (Ubuntu) Status: New = Incomplete -- Screen resolution set to something invalid https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/260533 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 260533] Re: Screen resolution set to something invalid
I booted my computer the other day off of a 8.10 live CD and the issue was still present, switching to VT and making Xorg use vesa still was required. ** Attachment added: lspci -vvnn http://launchpadlibrarian.net/19458206/lspci -- Screen resolution set to something invalid https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/260533 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
