  Upon booting Intrepid Ibex Alpha 4, nv chooses 1600x1...@60hz, which is
  not supported by my monitor, but looking at the logs, it does see the
  correct resolution of 1440x...@75hz. Switch to vesa allowed me to get a
  usable (although not correct) resolution.
  
  I forgot to add that this is an nVidia GeForce 9600GT, with an Acer
  AL1917W monitor, whose native resolution is 1440x900.
