[Bug 270523] Re: Rhythmbox fails at starting playback on doubleclick / argument passing

[Bug 270523] Re: Rhythmbox fails at starting playback on doubleclick / argument passing
Bug #179110 talks about auto playback at rhythmbox start, I don't think that is the same as this bug? Anyhow, thanks for the hint, as I have been able to find out more about the problem. It seems that trying to play a file (through command-line options) which does not reside in my library results in (a) nothing, or (b) playback of the currently selected album in the Music tab. The same test with a file listed in my library, results in correct playback. So it depends whether the file I want to play, is already in my library, or not. As I mostly double-click on new files, this bug gets triggered quite frequently. -- Rhythmbox fails at starting playback on doubleclick / argument passing https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/270523 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 270523] Re: Rhythmbox fails at starting playback on doubleclick / argument passing
right the other bug is about automatic playing a song when rhythmbox start, what is your issue about, the description looks like that's what you are trying to do and it's not working in the case where the song is not in the library, which is the issue described in the other bug report -- Rhythmbox fails at starting playback on doubleclick / argument passing https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/270523 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 270523] Re: Rhythmbox fails at starting playback on doubleclick / argument passing
David Prieto writes that rhythmbox /path/to/file works as long as the file is not in the library. I experience the contrary, rhythmbox /path/to/file does not work as long as file is not indexed. This is not a missing feature, but a defect! rhythmbox /path/to/file should work for any file, not only files indexed in the library. -- Rhythmbox fails at starting playback on doubleclick / argument passing https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/270523 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 270523] Re: Rhythmbox fails at starting playback on doubleclick / argument passing
do you get inconsistant behaviour on the same example? there is a known issue that it starts playing only songs which are not in your library yet, see bug #179110, do you get the same bug? ** Changed in: rhythmbox (Ubuntu) Status: New = Incomplete -- Rhythmbox fails at starting playback on doubleclick / argument passing https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/270523 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 270523] Re: Rhythmbox fails at starting playback on doubleclick / argument passing
** Description changed: Binary package hint: rhythmbox Rhythmbox doesn't always react properly when trying to open a file by passing it as an argument (or by double-clicking a media file, which in fact works the same way). Example file: [EMAIL PROTECTED]:~/Bureaublad$ file 2 Many Dj's Soulwax @ StuBru 08-09-2008.mp3 2 Many Dj's Soulwax @ StuBru 08-09-2008.mp3: MPEG ADTS, layer III, v1, 96 kbps, 44.1 kHz, JntStereo Used command: [EMAIL PROTECTED]:~/Bureaublad$ rhythmbox 2 Many Dj's Soulwax @ StuBru 08-09-2008.mp3 OR [EMAIL PROTECTED]:~/Bureaublad$ rhythmbox 2\ Many\ Dj\'s\ \\ Soulwax\ @\ StuBru\ 08-09-2008.mp3 Result: most of the times (80% of all cases), the file does NOT start playing, it doesn't even get queued up. - This h is highly annoying as a double-click action on any media files results in argument passing as described. So I cannot play files in rhythmbox by double-clicking on them! + This is highly annoying as a double-click action on any media files results in argument passing as described. So I cannot play files in rhythmbox by double-clicking on them! The log included is a rhythmbox debug log when a file gets passed to rhythmbox, but playback does not start. A close look indicates that rhythmbox does in fact properly parse the given arguments, but fails at starting playback. -- Rhythmbox fails at starting playback on doubleclick / argument passing https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/270523 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 270523] Re: Rhythmbox fails at starting playback on doubleclick / argument passing
you mentionned that you get the issue 80% of the time or the parsing is not something which has a random behaviour, it looks rather a race than a parsing issue indeed, to send to bugzilla.gnome.org by somebody getting the bug ** Changed in: rhythmbox (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete = New -- Rhythmbox fails at starting playback on doubleclick / argument passing https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/270523 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
