If it doesnt work is because of the permissions, try changing the permissions and read the log file again, system log will let you see it. This bug also occurs in Hardy Heron 8.0.4.1 64 bit kernel 2.6.24-22 but works fine in Jaunty Jackalope 64 bit kernel 2.6.28-2.
