I have now tested a few days using the 32-bit flash plugin, and things
appear to still work. Upgraded to 12.04 and haven't seen any
flash-related problems either. Bug appears fixed.

It appears not to be occurring on 11.10 with the 64-bit flash plugin.
Have not tried the 32-bit flash plugin. My recollection is that the bug
went away when I started using the 64-bit flash beta a couple years ago.

I'll try downgrading to the current 32-bit flash plugin and see if it
comes back.

The problem seemed to go away when I manually installed the 64-bit version
of the plugin, I'll try removing that and report in a day out so whether
the problem persists.

[Bug 322935] Re: Flash plugin fails to display

2009-10-18 Thread jcfp
Same problem on a 64bit karmic install, flash stops working after some
time, restarting the browser makes it work again - for as long as it
lasts. Used 32bit jaunty before, which never had any such problem. May
be 64bit related? Opening multiple tabs for me doesn't work as a way to
reproduce this, tried opening 20 at once, each containing an embedded
flash video and although performance was horrible flash continued to
work.

Anybody have a fix or a reliable way to reproduce this? Anybody seeing
this on a 32bit system?

[Bug 322935] Re: Flash plugin fails to display

2009-08-21 Thread Huw
I don't know if this will help with solving this really annoying bug,
but I've realised that Flash can suddenly stop working when I open
another tab in Firefox that also contains Flash.

For example, just now I was listening to some music in a Flash player on
one website, and when I opened a tab and navigated to another website
that contained Flash, all Flash content just disappeared to be replaced
by the grey boxes and the music playback ended. So it can actually be
interrupted.

[Bug 322935] Re: Flash plugin fails to display

2009-08-07 Thread Huw
I can confirm this. I'm pretty sure it's been happening since I
upgraded to Jaunty 64-bit. Disabling Ubuntu Firefox Modifications was
no help at all. I'm using Firefox 3.0.13 and Shockwave Flash 10.0 r22.

[Bug 322935] Re: Flash plugin fails to display

It looks like the problem may not be caused by the Ubuntu Firefox
Modifications extension after all. It took a couple days, but today my
Flash plugin stopped working with that extension disabled.

[Bug 322935] Re: Flash plugin fails to display

2009-02-04 Thread jhaiduce
I think I found the culprit. I disabled the extension called Ubuntu
Firefox Modifications and that seems to make the Flash problem go away.
Occasionally Flash objects come up as grey boxes (with a Transferring
data from... message in the status bar) but they load when I refresh
the page.

[Bug 322935] Re: Flash plugin fails to display

2009-02-04 Thread jhaiduce
The about:plugins page lists the Adobe flash plugin, 10.0r15, and has
the Totem Web Browser Plugin 2.24.3 associated with video/flv. I believe
the Adobe plugin is loading in most if not all cases.

I also have the swfdec 0.8.0 and gnash 0.8.4 packages installed,
although they don't appear in the about:plugins page. Before I disabled
the Ubuntu Firefox Modifications extension I was able to switch to
swfdec or gnash (although I never had any Flash content play
successfully using the open source plugins).
