[Bug 326697] Re: [HD 3650] very choppy video -radeon or -radeonhd
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 334101 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/334101 A git snapshot of the 6.12.0 branch is available in my PPA, which has the video acceleration for r6xx/r7xx, although I think it also needs some kernel updates to take full advantage of it. Might be worth testing. ** Changed in: xserver-xorg-video-ati (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided = High Status: Confirmed = Triaged ** Summary changed: - [HD 3650] very choppy video -radeon or -radeonhd + [HD 3650] [needs 6.12.0] very choppy video -radeon or -radeonhd ** This bug has been marked a duplicate of bug 334101 FFe: Xv and EXA not supported on R6xx/R7xx chipsets -- [HD 3650] [needs 6.12.0] very choppy video -radeon or -radeonhd https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/326697 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 326697] Re: [HD 3650] very choppy video -radeon or -radeonhd
Some acceleration for R600 will show up in -ati 6.12, and if not in Jaunty, expect it in Jaunty+1. I'll close this bug since you indicated that the choppy video has been fixed. ** Changed in: xserver-xorg-video-ati (Ubuntu) Status: New = Fix Released -- [HD 3650] very choppy video -radeon or -radeonhd https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/326697 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Oops, now I understood that it was OK in Intrepid but bad in Jaunty. ** Changed in: xserver-xorg-video-ati (Ubuntu) Status: Fix Released = Confirmed -- [HD 3650] very choppy video -radeon or -radeonhd https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/326697 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 326697] Re: [HD 3650] very choppy video -radeon or -radeonhd
I've created an Intrepid installation for testing, and discovered that in Intrepid, using the RADEON driver, the quality is much better, though not perfect. I've attached the Xorg.0.log from intrepid, which is quite similar, and also says that Acceleration initialization failed ** Attachment added: Xorg.0.log from intrepid with radeon http://launchpadlibrarian.net/23050886/Xorg.0.log -- [HD 3650] very choppy video -radeon or -radeonhd https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/326697 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 326697] Re: [HD 3650] very choppy video -radeon or -radeonhd
There's not enough info provided to troubleshoot this issue. My guess though is that you might have some -fglrx bits installed still - see https://wiki.ubuntu.com/X/Troubleshooting/FglrxInteferesWithRadeonDriver If that doesn't fix it, then you should provide more information, including your xorg.conf, output of lspci -vvnn, and your Xorg.0.log after reproducing the issue. ** Summary changed: - very choppy video with ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3650 and xserver-xorg-video-radeon or xserver-xorg-video-radeonhd + [HD 3650] very choppy video -radeon or -radeonhd ** Changed in: xserver-xorg-video-ati (Ubuntu) Status: New = Incomplete -- [HD 3650] very choppy video -radeon or -radeonhd https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/326697 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 326697] Re: [HD 3650] very choppy video -radeon or -radeonhd
I've gone through that wiki page and ensured the fglrx is completely removed (I'm pretty sure it was anyway, I had already done something very similar). The only instances of 'fglrx' from 'locate' are files that are provided by other packages -- the following packages, to be complete: app-install-data x11-common jockey-common I have no xorg.conf (it was minimal, and I deleted it just to be sure). Output of lspci -vv is attached, and Xorg.0.log for radeon and radeonhd drivers. With the radeon driver, I noticed that log contains these lines: [2.282963] (WW) RADEON(0): Direct rendering disabled [2.282982] (EE) RADEON(0): Acceleration initialization failed [2.283003] (II) RADEON(0): Acceleration disabled There is also this: [1.261052] (--) RADEON(0): Chipset: ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3650 (ChipID = 0x9591) [1.261071] (WW) RADEON(0): R600 support is mostly incomplete and very experimental I have found someone else reporting similar problems with Jaunty and the same graphics card: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=6772747 (Note that I did not have any problems with Intrepid) ** Attachment added: lspci_vv.txt http://launchpadlibrarian.net/23009940/lspci_vv.txt -- [HD 3650] very choppy video -radeon or -radeonhd https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/326697 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
