I have now upgraded this system to jaunty from intrepid while running the hardy kernel. I confirm that the kernel included with intrepid (Linux soekris 2.6.28-13-generic #45-Ubuntu SMP Tue Jun 30 19:49:51 UTC 2009 i586) works with the sc1200 disk controller. So: fixed in jaunty. I won't have time to test this for a few days, but my concerns are as follows: - intrepid (8.10) is currently a necessary step on the upgrade path from 8.04 LTS to 9.04 LTS; - 8.10 does not boot on a system that depends on an sc1200 disk controller; - the work-around is to boot the 8.04 LTS kernel, but I don't know (and won't have time for several days) to test whether a distribution upgrade works while running a kernel version that does not match the distribution being upgraded.
