*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 381116 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/381116 This is now a known bug in gnome-session [1], and Robert Hughes (the author of gnome-power-manager) wrote a bodge [2] to fix it. This fix is included in the most recent version Karmic version of gnome-power- manager (2.27.5-0ubuntu1). Could you check to make sure it is fixed? @ouragan: Thanks. I saw in your logs that you are using g-p-m version: 2.24.2. The issue that you reported is one that should be reproducible with the live environment of the Desktop CD of the development release - Karmic Koala (gpm version 2.27+). It would help us greatly if you could test with it so we can work on getting it fixed in the next release of Ubuntu. There has been significant changes to the software, and the original reporter observed this problem in Karmic Alpha 2. One more thing: What do you use as screensaver? I uninstalled the screensaver ages ago, long before this problem began. Another problem that started around the same time as this however is that totem crashes the second I try to play anything with it. Mplayer still works. Have no clue if it's related. I've the same problem. Using Jaunty on an HP530c (p4-2.66). I upgraded to Jaunty about a month ago yet this problem only just cropped up. It happens any time the computer is left alone for a couple of minutes - very annoying. Power manager is set to 'never' put screen to sleep. I'm always installing new things, so I can't rule out that something I've installed has caused this, but so far as I recall, I've only been installing apps, nothing systemic (although I did install the ubuntulooks theme the other day - I can't imagine that has anything to do with it).
