Having increased the memory in my printer from 256 MB to 768 MB, I can confirm that output.pdf now prints without issue. I have discussed this with a Xerox engineer, as I had the same problem with a Xerox Phaser 8560DN-2 printer. Trying to print many documents, including output.pdf (attached above), crashed the printer. I got confirmation from Xerox that they are able to reproduce the problem. So far support for Xerox on Linux is pretty good btw! Any news on this? I can confirm that I see the same problem with Xerox 8560DN. I'm kicking myself for not having checked this bugdatabase first! :-) Some files I can print out from Linux, others(probably those with big pictures), make the printer crash. This is using the CUPS printer driver. When I spoke with Xerox support(Norway) they thought the printer was DOA. Sounds dubious to me, but certainly the firmware is never supposed to reboot the printer in this fashion. Perhaps a firmware upgrade exists? When we print from Windows, there are some PDF files that crash under Linux that we can print out from Windows. However, the attached PDF file is too big for the printer according to an error message printed by the printer. This bug can be confirmed with a HP Laserjet Color 8550DN on a Hardy I386 LTSP Fat Client and on an Intrepid X64 Workstation. I am using the HPLIP-Driver for a HP 8550 which is marked as recommended in CUPS. What works: - Printing images out of Firefox, OpenOffice.org, Acrobat Reader - Printing pdf-Files with Text out of evince - Printing PS-Files directly via ftp-upload However, printing of jpeg-files out of - eog - f-spot causes error 49.481e on the printer meaning something is wrong with the printing data and I have to restart the printer. Dear Pascal Thank you for taking an interest in this bug. The apport-collect and /var/log/cups/error_log were both collected after attempting to print from EoG as requested. As before the Xerox-Phaser- 8560DN rebooted and the image was not printed. But I was able to print from the command line using lp -o scaling=10 DSC04346.JPG.
