[Bug 448420] Re: mutter takes 100% CPU for simple tasks

2017-05-06 Thread Jeremy Bicha
Thank you for reporting this bug to Ubuntu. 9.10 reached EOL in 2011.
See this document for currently supported Ubuntu releases:
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Releases

I've tried recreating this bug with your release and was unable to,
given the information you've provided. Please upgrade to Ubuntu 16.04
LTS and re-test. If the bug is still reproducible, increase the
verbosity of the steps to recreate it so we can try again.

Do feel free to report any other bugs you may find.

This happens to me A LOT, particularly when navigating the filesystem.
It makes Unity completely unusable.

I am also affected by this. Another addition to what Mathieu said:
Sometimes the window manager disappears and appears again, similar as in
windows when explorer.exe crashes.

[Bug 448420] Re: mutter takes 100% CPU for simple tasks

2010-10-15 Thread Mathieu BAUTISTA
I have the same problem (mutter uses sometimes 100% and freeze my computer)
with 10.10 release, here is my config :
Asus EeePC 1210N
nVidia ION VGA [GeForce 9400M]
nVidia driver : version 260.19.06

I don't know if it's related or not, but I experienced other various (but less
important) bugs like :
- When i click the Applications icon on the right bar, icons take a lot of
time to display (texts display immediately), sometimes only a few icons will
finally display and other won't display even if i wait a long time
- Icons on the right bar are white when i get back to my desktop after having
launched a full screen game

Is it related to Unity, my driver or both ? Can I fix this on my own
(for example downgrading my driver) ?

Thank you for your great work.

I forgot to mention : 100% usage is on CPU, memory seems to be used
moderately

[Bug 448420] Re: mutter takes 100% CPU for simple tasks

2010-09-29 Thread Steve Fosdick
I have just tried the beta of Ubuntu netbook on a couple of netbooks and
it is completely unusable. It starts out well but within five minutes
or so clicking on things causes long periods of disk activity before
anything happens. Looking with top mutter is comsuming CPU when
seemingly nothing else is happening and has a large amount of virtual
memory mapped so I suspect this may be the culprit, especially reading
the above. Any news on this one?

Seems that there are still memory leaks in mutter…

What's your video card btw (lspci)? I don't get that on nvidia and intel
card I have.

2009-11-02 Thread Mark Parigger
I get a similar behaviour although not as extreme as Rob.
Mutter takes up to 400 Megabyte of RAM and has spikes in CPU-Usage for up to
90% for no apparent reason.
