Hello respected friend: Sir actually the problem with your DSL applet is you have to follow these step: 1- Press super button of your keyboard. 2- Write here system settings 3- On here click on the login screen option 4-Unlock it and check if you have the same privileges of administrator..! 5- If it so kindly reply me we will take you a step ahead, there may be problem with your user privileges.. The most confusing thing of all is the service field in the config for DSL. There are so many protocols and possibilities to type in this field. I would be happy to help. I have some changes already to this document, but the massive amount of different protocols is intimidating me. To further this, there is absolutely no decent documentation that I can find anywhere on DSL with Network Manager. Our pitiful three steps are the best I can really find. I've never dealt with a DSL connection before so I am a little intimidated to be working on documentation for such a thing. Anish, is there a bug report open for DSL connections not working at all in Ubuntu? If so, please let us know the bug number - that is relevant to this report. What I said in my previous statement is that this bug is a request to have important documentation added, not to provide technical support. What we need is directions on how DSL connections are supposed to be setup in Ubuntu - if the problem is widespread enough, we will document that the instructions currently don't work, but they still need to be there. Connor Imes is wrong. The Network manager in Karmic is buggy and does not work as far as a DSL connection is concerned (a process called Evolutionary regression). I'm not the sort of Linux geek but find my ways through sometimes. This time however I decided to upgrade my notebook's OS from Ubuntu 9,04 to Ubuntu 9,1 and to my surprise my computer lost the internet connection. I firstly thought it could be a cable problem. Changed cables and the problem persisted. It could be a problem of network settings or login setting and when I try to edit the network connection (through edit connection/DSL and clicking on the service I use and then clicking on Edit button) the system prevents any change and displays the following message Error Initializing editor: insufficient privileges. But I AM the administrator and as such I should have every privilege for changes in the system! The only possible thing I can do is to delete and create a new connection. Could anyone tell me what is happening with my pc's system? Is there anything wrong (a bug, perhaps) in Ubuntu 9,1?
